We're thinking of going to Pensacola/Gulf Shores OR the Gulf coast next year for a nice quiet, relaxing beach holiday. (Although we're still be slowly pulled towards Orlando each time we start talking about it).

Anyhow, options we've thought of are either flying into Tampa and driving up (or if we stay on the gulf coast then that would be perfect) or flying into Atlanta and spending a few days with my brother in South Georgia before driving down.

I've priced up some flights on Expedia and also used USAirtours and BA direct, best prices I can find so far are around £1600 ish for 2 adults, 1 child and 1 infant in a seat. I've had to price up end of July as not all airlines have released prices for August yet - we want to go the last 2 weeks of Aug.

Does that sound good for that time of year, and can anyone recommend anwhere else to try?

Also can anyone recommend sites to hire villas, we've already got a a master plan for next years DVC points so want to pay cash this time. OR any hotel recommendations would be great too.

Thank you :)

on another site someone suggested KLM....the prices looked good and I think they fly toTampa.

Don't all KLM flights go via Schipol in the Netherlands? The three flights to get tho Tampa has always put me off flying with them. I have flown Delta via Atlanta into Tampa - not great, but it was cheap! I have heard that JetBlue are very good with various routes out of New York and there are plenty of flight options to get to New York....?

Hi

We stayed in a Virgin Holidays Villa Newport Richey, which was very handy for Clearwater. The villa was lovely and in a wonderful gated community backing a beautiful lake.

Newport Richey is fairly small and doesn't have much to do there, but is very close to the amazing Honeymoon and Caladesi Island and also Clearwater with its great pier and beach. Having a week (or a bit less) on the gulf coast is a great way to relax before or after 'hitting' the parks of Orlando.

Richard :)
