I don't know if this is the right place for this - but here it goes. Is there any one out there who had a tubal ligation and then became pregnant? I am wondering if I am "one of them". I am a few days late and took a test and I have a faint line. I am so confused - don't know how I should feel. I had my tubes tied because I didn't want anymore children, but yet on the other hand I should feel blessed that this could happen to me!! Thanks for listening.

is it possible? Of course! I would retest in the morning with FMU (First Morning Urine) Good Luck I hope you get the results you want!

Trust me,as someone who has taken, oh, a frillion pregnancy tests in my time, if you see a line, you're pregnant. I would do as the PP suggested and take another test in the morning, but I'd probably skip the evening cocktail tonight, just in case.

Good luck! I hope whatever happens, you end up happy with the result.

Keep us posted, and good luck. :goodvibes

I personally know someone who that happened to...they told her the failure rate for a tubal was 1 in 3000. She was apparently the one. Goood luck...:goodvibes

One of my nieces is a "tubal baby", so it can certainly happen.

I had a tubal, too, but also use a nuvaring as back-up because I'm really, really, really done procreating.

I've always heard a line, is a line, is a line. I think congratulations are in order! Please keep us posted.:goodvibes

WOW.....I think you are!!!:goodvibes It's funny, I had my tubes tied last Summer after the birth of our third son since I was under the knife anyways and we knew we were done. Well, this Summer, I had some abdominal pain, went to see my dr. and they asked me if I could be pregnant....I said, I had a tubal last year but anything is possible, right? And for one second I was excited with the thought, even though I had just finished nursing the baby after almost 13 months, it ended up being negative and I ended up having an emergency appendix removal instead! :sad2: Best wishes to you and your family!! Keep us posted!!:goodvibes

I've always read that there is never false positives, only false negatives. Congrats! You must be meant to have this child!

My dh has already asked me if this means that he now has to sign up for the big "V"! :rotfl2: I'm considering it!! I understand that the tubal isn't 100%, but never thought that I could be the "one".

Thanks for everyones well wishes - it's helps to have someone to talk to.

One of my student's mom had a tubal and became pregnant she just had the baby this July. Best wishes whatever the result.

Oh my goodness- it sounds like you may very well be preggo! Congratulations and keep us all posted!
That's wonderful.

It happens! Did your tubal surgeon tie or burn? Mine burned my tubes because he said that simply tying them can sometimes fail. Sounds weird but thats what he said. Let us know, but usually a line means pregnant!

As a former L&D nurse I took care of many women who had history of tubals. Good luck in the morning.

My story is not the same as yours, but I will share it anyway and maybe it will bring a smile to you.
My husband and I always said we would have 2 children, after we had our 2 daughters, he went to the doctor to schedule a vacetomy. We were told that our insurance would only cover it if he was 30 years old, had 3 kids or waited one year. So, he was soon to be 30 so we planned it for then. Days before he was set to go in, guess what??? I was sick, a sick I had been before, twice. I was so certain that I never even took a test, I just knew. I was upset, briefly. We couldn't afford her, would we have enough time for her, but that soon changed. I figured it was meant to be. Like any child, she is wonderful. I absolutly cannot imagine my life without her. She is beautiful, funny, smart, and my baby. She was the greatest surprise. She was a true gift I never knew I wanted, but thank God eveyday that I have her. I am sure that if you are pregnant, that it is meant to be.
By the way, the vacetomy was easy on me!:rotfl: , but also pretty easy on hubby. He was nervous of course, but went to work that afternoon, I drove him, but othr then that he was fine. Best wishes to your family, I am hoping all goes well for you....

I would suggest that you call your Dr. in the morning and set up an appointment. Yes... 'false positive' results are rare. I am one of those who has experienced a 'false positive' pregnancy test result though, so I know first hand that they do indeed happen (although I was told this usually occurs when an egg was fertilized, but miscarried).

Either way, it sounds like the tubal may very well have 'failed'. Talk with your Dr., and see what he recommends you do next. ;)

According to my mom (my dr allowed her in w/ my dh since we thought this would be my last c-section!) she remembers him tying them and then cutting. I don't know if he burned or not. Won't she be surprised when she hears this news!

Well I couldn't sleep this morning - wonder why?! took the test and.....it looks the same as yesterday!! Needless to say - I am still confused.

Guess I will call the dr today - need to figure that one out. I really liked the OB that delivered my 2 boys, but their pediatrician is 45 minutes away in another county so I am trying to decide if I should switch OBs so that I can deliver in the hospital where the pediatrician practices.
