My dad told me that the travel agent of a woman he works with told her that disney was going to be announcing something to the travel agents on February 21st that is something they have never done before. I have no idea what this would be and I have no idea what Disney has never done before but I was just wondering if there is anyone on these boards that have heard anything about this?:confused3 :confused3

The Orlando Sentinel quoted a Disney spokesperson a couple weeks ago that there would be announcement soon about what they were going to do with the recently renovated building on Pleasure Island. It's been empty for nearly two years and is likely to be the site of new shops and some sort of restaurant or lounge. There could also be an announcement about what they plan to do with the just closed Rock'n'Roll Beach Club building.

But of course it could be something else entirely different.

Normally Disney does not announce, in advance, that they are going to be making a major announcement. Basically all it would do is lead to speculation. Also they normally would not give a specific date, because if there were a change of plans they would have egg on their face.

When they are ready to make an announcement they do so.

I think you are right. I don't think it is real but I just wanted to put it out there.

Nothing to do with that big dinosaur thing there currently building?

That is a restaurant called "T-Rex." It's owned and operated by the same company that does Rainforest and Yak & Yeti.

Yeah I read that article too. I think it could be that and it would make sense that they would have a certain day that they are announcing it and that they would be telling travel agents. Plus it is different from anything they have done before.

I know there are supposed to be some room and/or package discounts announced tomorrow - maybe that's it?

That might be, I just looked at the WDWinfo main page and the newest news item is that free park hopper and wter parks fun and more package is open to everyone not just disney visa cardholders.

That seems to bit it... AV was right - there's your "lowered" ticket prices.

WDW has never offered AP holders the opportunity to book the dining plan until now. Maybe that was the "something they have never done before".
