their pin code with me? I just called and did not have one attatched to my name and I asked if I could use someone elses and she said yes! I have a trip planned but now our financial situation has changed I would hate to have to cancel, but if I can't figure something out that is what we will have to do! I have NEVER had a code before and doubt I will get one now so any help is really appreciated PLEASE!

Unless things have changed in recent weeks, I have been told that pin codes are not transferrable.

The person whose name the code is attached to has to be going on the trip or at the very least, the people traveling must be part of that person's household (and this does not always work).

Unfortunately, I think that you receive incorrect information from the CM.

That's a new one to us.

Someone sharing their pin code with you will not help you.

My mom lives with me, got a 40% off code, and doesn't want to go. I've called several times asking to use it, since she is actually part of my household and I support her, and have been told every time that it is her code and unless she is in the room with me, that I can not use the code.

That is just wrong. People that live in the same house should be able to use the code. I think that if you cant use your code you should be able to give it to someone, they are still getting someone to fill the rooms. They seem to send the same people the codes (no offence to those people). Ive heard of some getting 2/3 codes and so many people get none. What is with that??????:confused3

It is not the first time that CMs have given incorrect information. A few years ago a CM told me that I could avoid buying a hopper by using another day's admission to get into a different park on the same day.

If you question anything, this is the place to get the real answer.

In Jan. our son, who does not live with us, got a PIN for 40%. We knew that we could not use it, but DH sent an e-mail to Disney Destinations asking if we could. They responded "no". But 4 days later we got our own!

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I just went and got my mom's code. On the part that says 'Nine magical times to celebrate' it shows a kid and his grandfather with decorated rice crispy Mickey bars and just below it it says, 'The number of rooms available at this savings is limited. Minimum length-of -stay requirements may apply for Friday-Saturday arrivals. Savings based on nondiscounted price for same room. Additional per-adult charges may apply if more than two adults per room., No group rates or other discounts apply. Advance reservations required. Offer is nontransferable.' At the very bottom of that part of the page, it says, 'Also please mention the code included in the yellow box on this mailer (above your name and address).' The yellow part they are talking about has my mom's name with my address. I just called again, out of curiosity and was again told I could not use the code, even though my mom actually does live with me. The only way it can be used, is if she is in the room and available at check in.

I wish I could share... we have 3 codes, (two 40% off codes, one in my name and one in DH's name, plus the kids stay and play for free code) and we can NOT find a time when the whole family can go this year!

I think the CM gave you incorrect information, and also, I'm pretty sure personal pin code numbers are NOT allowed to be posted here at the Dis boards.

Can you travel during Free Dining, if offered, or when there is a General Public room only or package discount offered? What about the 4 + 3 special?

I recieved 2 pin codes this year. One by mail and one via e-mail. When I tried to use pin code via e-mail she said my address did not match my name???:confused3

My mom traveled with me one year and it was under her address.
The only way I could use it is if she were traveling with me.
Even though it was my e-mail address.

same here, but my DB got the code at my address while he lived her and i could not use it unless he was on the reservation :headache:

The codes just come on a postcard or email? Who does the email come from? Who do you call to see if there is a PIN attached to your name?

A couple of years ago, before I knew about all the codes and deals and I was new to these boards, everyone was talking about a code. Someone PM'd me with the code and we already had reservations and the code saved us 400.00. I do know at the time it was turning into a big mess. Some CM's were taking the code and some said no. It all depended on who you talked to. When we arrived we had no problem. I agree any family member should be able to use the codes that are sent out. My daughter got 2 40% off codes in one week about 2 months ago! I'd help if I could, but I did not get any. But we are going in Sept. with free dinning and using the military tickets.

Again....I think that rule sucks!!!! If nothing else at least family should be able to use it, but then again I think if someone gets a code and cant use it they should be able to give it to whoever they want...at least someone is going to fill the room.

I am going to have to side with the cm on this one. Speaking as a corporate attorney I am trying to figure out how this squares away with Clayton Antitrust laws. There is an act called the "Robinson Patman Act" which prevents price discrimination. Basically you cannot offer two people of similar situations different prices (this is why AAA members can get less because you are not in similar situation). Now, Disney is not required to tell you of the pin but if you have a pin, you found it and it is valid you cannot be discriminated against. Look it up if you would like to be well versed in this-- grocery stores were smacked down by this particular practice where you had to physically hold a coupon and they were sending coupons to named people and not giving others the same price. No more under the Act. Now they get around this by simply providing the coupons at the front of the grocery store so everyone must physically hold this coupon. So you must look for it. Now, because Disney has such savvy attorneys (great legal team) perhaps a vacation is not considered "buying goods" but that would be questionable given the law as it is generally "goods and services". I have not done the official research on this issue nor do I have time to. However, it will not hurt your situation to ask the question to the cm and if you do not get an answer perhaps a manager would know the answer. There could be a legal loophole for Disney. Now, the disboards does not allow pin posting so you need to find other means at getting a pin as they are entitled to govern their boards. Once you get it, don't be fooled, make sure you learn this law and get the same price that the others are getting if it is applicable in this situation. Hopefully this helps and you can take your family on a wonderful WDW trip. Times are difficult and sometimes a trip to WDW is just what the doctor ordered. In the end, Disney wants you there anyway. Hopefully a good person has a pin code for you somewhere ;)

But the PIN number is different per person (from what I understand) - it is not a standard code for all recipients. It's not like one of their standard "lettered" discount codes that are for general public.

My supermarkets (I have 3 chains nearby that I frequent) still mail out coupons to particular people. We have an Acme market about 1/2 mile away from my house. I am a card holder, but I never receive coupons in the mail. My brother has the same card as I do, and he gets special coupons in the mail at least once per month. And the reverse happens at another chain nearby - Shop Rite (I get them, he doesn't). And the Shop Rite also offers different coupons to their Spanish speaking customers than their English - is that covered under this law?

Regarding Disney, when the law applies is "simarily situated people". Perhaps in Disney's eyes the people getting the codes are not random people at all-- it could be a "class of people"--- people going 10 xs per year, etc. I am not sure that the code number matters much-- I am thinking it is the "offer" as a whole. This is worth the poster exploring as she could be in the class. That is why you see things such as "disney visa" holders getting rates or AAA rates. Generally speaking it is against the Patman Act to offer different prices to "simliar situated people". She should explore this with the cm when she calls. The cm may be right and she could go to Disney.

Regarding your supermarket, most supermarkets have now skirted this issue by creating special "frequent buyer clubs" that you sign up for and get their mailings. You are now a separate class. They can offer different prices to these people. Also, most supermarkets now have their coupons and flyers available in the store. The law doesn't require them to give it to you-- you need to know about it, and you have to find it and they need to make it available when you ask. That's all. So when your brother gets coupons and you are in the same class you need to write it down, go to the customer service desk and tell them you want the same price. You should get it if there aren't other facts. Same with spanish speaking, if the price is out there and you know about it and you are situated the same ask for it.

This is really fact dependent on each situation . The person who asked this question should really explore it.

Thanks for all your responses. When I had talked to the CM She said that there was not a code in my name and I had said I had heard about there being some special codes out there and she said she did not have access to them but if I gave them to her she could tell me if I could use it. I am not sure why she told me this but oh well, hopefully I can figure something out if not I guess there's nothing I can do about it! Thanks again!

Pin codes are guest specific. If you call with someone elses pin and your name doesnt show up on the screen theyre going to tell you that you cant use it
