Could adult only cruises be in the future?

Did a survey from DCL after our February 15th cruise about adult only cruises. See attachment. Also a question if we would purchase a drink package. Didn't screen shot that one.Screenshot_20250223-042110_Chrome.jpg

Got the same survey after a sailing on the fantasy in December. Glad to see they are still gauging interest. Here is the screen shot of the drink package question. IMG_5397.png

There was a thread about this a little while ago but TBH I would do an adult's only Disney cruise. The amount of kids on board is why DCL does not appeal to me personally (well, that and the boring itineraries). I think it would sell out immediately - there is a demand for it.

Can't imagine they would do an adults-only cruise, but if it leads them to improve the adult-only activities onboard, that would be great.

Got a similar survey after our January 11 Treasure sailing.

Can't image Disney would ever offer an adult only sailing on their ships. What would they do with all the space the kids clubs occupy? And the merchandise and experiences directed at the younger set? Just won't happen.

I could see them offering a drink package though. Do they still have the wine package?

TBH, we are going on a cruise in October, taking our daughter, husband and the three most awesome grandsons this grandma could ask for.

I would have ZERO interest in an adults only Disney cruise.

And, my next two cruises will be only DH and me, and the plan will be a European river cruise, as well as an Alaskan cruise. Due to the costs, we will not be doing Disney for either.

Part of me thinks it's counter to Disney to have adults only cruises since they are identified so well with kids. But, on the other hand, ABD does adults-only excursions with some of their tours - often while schools are in session. So it probably could work if they did a couple each season.

I have to imagine an adults only cruise on DCL would be much more expensive, since they don’t have a casino and would need something to make up the loss of revenue by not having kids aboard.

When I watch cruise vlogs where adults only groups tour the kids clubs during open house, they often say something like "I wish I could be part of this, I want to go here, it's so cool!". I am sure they can think of something to utilize the spaces.

i can imagine they might do an adults only sailing on 1 ship, a short cruise, once a month or so. Only from Florida where they have easy access to their storage centers. For this one sailing they can move out (most of) the kids merchandise, move in more adult merchandise in and switch it back after the adults only cruise is over.

If they made the survey, they are definitely considering offering it.

The would just open the kids spaces to adults and organize activities. They already do this (or at least did pre-COVID) on longer cruises like WBTA & EBTA.

They will probably charge a lot for these cruises. But they might attract new guests this way. Like they did with the British cruises to nowhere during COVID, Australian cruises and soon the Singapore cruises.

More than anything else, DCL would take a major L on the occupancy side. Why would DCL pass up on rooms occupied by 4-5 people in exchange for rooms occupied by 1-2 people? Not to mention all of the extra money spent on the ship, etc. by higher occupancy room.

Disney's load factor on a normal week will come nowhere near max capacity. Nor could any Disney ship ever sail with every room filled to room occupancy because that would be over ship occupancy.

Why? Are the kids buying the merchandise? Are the kids going to the upcharge restaurants? Are the kids buying the alcohol and premium coffee? Kids going to the mixology or beer/wine/whiskey/champagne tastings? Are kids doing the dessert events at the upcharge restaurants? Does Disney now charge for kids clubs and I am completely unaware.

Besides kid directed merch what are parents paying for for children onboard? Where are the up charges for the children? Why won't Disney think of the children when they come up with new ways to make money? Oh right, cause kids ain't footing the bill.

After being stepped on repeatedly, kicked at, and sat on by tiny humans on the last DCL cruise I took (I'm a solo traveler and these parents did bare minimum to control their children), please Disney, make it happen.

Wow. Ok. Have a magical day.

Disney could charge a premium (above what they already do) for a once a year Adult Only Sailing. Set it in Early Sept (mostly already adults on those cruises anyway) and it will sell out before it hits Gold Booking day.

Things they would need to offer to make it really work-
7 Nights or Longer
A Disney Guest Speaker (Two would be better)
Character Meets (maybe rare ones) held in the Kids Club daily
Events held in the kids club like crafts
Music Trivia being held in at same time, same questions in two locations (like D Lounge and Evolution\Tube)
Match Your Mate in held in the theater, and this might also work well for games like Pop.
Use the Vibe\Edge for Video Games tournaments (I know many adults who love video games)
Give the adult only sailings a cute name- Make merch but keep years off of it, sell it annually on the sailing each year until stock is gone
Offer an adult only afternoon tea (maybe with characters, maybe without) for an up-charge
Offer BBB adult only makeovers (with a special name to make it clear only for this one sailing) for an up-charge

And there is a 0% chance DCL would lose money on it. In fact they could offer more drink tastings and I think adults on an adult only cruise would spend more on alcohol purchases than what DCL would potentially lose out on kid's onboard merch (and even then adults will still buy stuff for the kids in their lives)

I honestly cannot believe DCL hasn't done it yet.

Smoothies, makeovers, upcharge ice cream spot all come to mind... but then, adults do those things for themselves too. I suspect at least some adults might purchase more alcohol if children weren't present so maybe that'd be a wash...
