My DD 7.5 is a bit bigger than the average child her age. she's built like her dad...a regular linebacker! Poor dear! she is bigger than most boys her age! I have a friend whose 11 year old is an inch shorter than my DD! :scared1:

Ok, so, my big question is, I see all of these adorable custom outfits and costumes and can't find a thing in her size...She is still at the age she wants to be a beautiful princess....what's a mom to do? :confused3

We are doing BBB for our trip and I worry they won't have a thing in her size so I want to take something along.

Any ideas or suggestions??? popcorn::

My friend was in the same postition with her almost 8 year old when they went to Disney. She bought an adult small Snow White costume from Disney shopping (online) and had it hemmed. Her DD loved it to the point she couldn't get her out of it! I've only seen up to size 12 in the Disney store but I bet online they may have more choices or maybe some adult smalls may work for some cute outfits for her. Gymboree online carries a line of plus sizes now so you may want to check there. My friend's DD was wearing a 14 because she needed it to go around her middle but really, in a plus size, she was only wearing a 10.

That's Exactly the problem...If I find jeans in 10 1/2 the are perfect!!!!
So frustrating....I will look at adult....but have no sewing machine....so will think about that...
thanks for the suggestions!:flower3:

What about an adult sized costume that wasn't long and didn't need to be hemmed, like Tinkerbell, Alice in Wonderland or Pocahontas? These Disney darlings have short dresses (and I'm sure others do as well, so you wouldn't need to sew anything.)

I have the same problem with my 8 year old. I can't find a plus size gown. I may buy an adult one and alter it, although I am not much of a seamstress.

Ladies don't stress if you can't sew. They make fabric glue that is easy to work with. I think it's called invisible stitches or something like that. It is washable and dries clear. I sometimes use it and it has always held up even in the washing machine. I would also check out a company called My Dress Up Trunk. At least I think that is the name. I will look it up. I think you might be able to find larger costumes there but I am not sure. It's worth a look at anyway. I hope this helps!princess:

Thank you all for your suggestions. I will take them to heart.
Is that glue really invisible or goopy...My GMIL glued one of my daughters sweatshirts with something once and she said it was something like that it was awful and think and goopy, you could see it. Maybe it was just how she did it....I may have to give it a try.

Nope. It's not goopy at all. You can't even see it. We have used it for many costumes. There is also a clear fabric glue that you can get at craft stores. It smells awful but works great.

Ask on the customs thread for ideas. I am making custom outfits for 5 kids and the largest is 8 and wears a size 16. There are some simple no sew things you can do too to make fun outfits. If you or anyone can even sew a little, there are links there to some simple patterns you can adjust to fit. Making a tutu out of tulle requires a scissors and elastic basically. You can pair it with a matching shirt with an iron on designed on the designs board. those are just the start of ideas!
