costume restrictions for ToT party?

I was planning on reusing my simple wedding dress for the ToT party and be the Haunted Mansion bride, but then a friend told me you can't wear wedding dresses into Disneyland.

do you think I would be able to wear it for the trick or treat party? Who would I contact to ask this to officially?

I have never heard that you cannot wear a wedding dress, I have never seen it in the restriction guidelines, but it doesnt hurt to call and ask. My first place to ask, would be at this number 1.714.781.4565 and go from there. Someone will post the rules/policy/guideline, but off the top of my head, it just states that it must be child friendly, no weapons or pointy objects, eyes must not be obscured and must be visible at all times even though masks are ok. Anybody dressed as a disney character must not pose for pix or autographs. I have seen a picture of a DISmember who's SIL went as "We Wants The Red Head" (awesome I must add), and I think this idea is just as great!!! I recently got married at the wedding Pavilion at Disney world and I can tell you that they WILL NOT let you wear a wedding dress in the park. They call it a "safety hazzard" With that said, I'm sure you wouldn't have a problem wearing it at long as you don't look like your walking down the isle...(hair, makeup, and flowers) you should be fine!

I saw a couple of great Haunted Mansion Brides last year when we went to Mickey's Trick or Treat Party. I say go for it!

I think the difference is that you're wearing this for a Halloween Party that is a hard ticket event at DCA, you won't be wearing it in Disneyland. Only children under 10 are allowed to wear a costume in Disneyland Park. However, for Mickey's Trick or Treat you are free to be creative with your costumes. We saw some great costumes last year.

Adults are not allowed to wear costumes into either park during regular hours. However, you can, and are encouraged to, dress up for the Halloween Trick or Treat Party at DCA. I would just plan to change before going into the party.

The only time you can wear a wedding dress in is the Trick or Treat party, but it has to meet the minimum guidelines - I put the ones from the web site at the bottom of this post.... Like Califgirl said, it's a Halloween party in DCA - not Disneyland - and they have costume guidelines for reference.

That being said, I hate to hijack a thread, but I realize this is so special that I feel completely compelled to share....

I am one of the VERY few brides ever allowed into the park during operating hours - without paying for an in-park wedding. It was back Christmas of 2001 and we had just gotten married at the GCH. I just happened to have a friend who talked to a friend who talked to a friend and pulled some strings..... I had to keep my leather coat on and my train bustled - which was fine by me - I was cold! It didn't keep people from realizing what I was wearing. With the hair and the tux and gown entourage of 8 - it was pretty obvious!

I do have a rather dark souvenier photo of us in front of the castle with my jacket off - call it a hit-and-run photo-op! I had to have my piece of proof!

If I can dig it out of the album (we didn't go digital until late 2001), I'll scan it in and upload it for you guys tomorrow, while the thread is still fresh.

Here are the costume guidelines for the ToT

Costume Information
All event attendees — including adults — may dress in their favorite Halloween costume and must follow these and other guidelines as determined solely by Disney:

- Costumes should be child-friendly and may not be obstructive, offensive or violent.
- Guests may wear masks. However, masks must not obstruct vision and eyes must be visible at all times.
- Guests that dress like Disney Characters may not pose for pictures or sign autographs for other Guests.
- Costumes should not drag on the ground.
- Costumes should not contain sharp objects, pointed objects or materials that may accidentally strike another Guest.
- Costumes should not contain any weapons which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.
- Guests of all ages may only wear costumes to the Mickey's Halloween Treat event to which they have valid tickets. During normal Park operating hours, costumes are only permitted for Guests ages 9 and younger.
- Guests that do not adhere to these guidelines may be refused entry into the event unless their costume can be modified to meet the above standards.

As long as your dress is not too long (drags on the ground), sounds like you should be just fine

Does your dress have bustling? If so, just move the loops down the dress a few inches. Should be fine!

I've seen people pose at the park for pictures from posts that people have made on the MTOTP thread, if someone was to come up to you and wanted to take a picture with you because of your costume, would you get in trouble for that ?

I wouldn't think so - not for the Halloween party. I know they say something for Star Wars Weekends at DHS in WDW, since Disney has it's own official Star Wars characters that wander around. That isn't the same format of an event - the park is open to the public, since that isn't a hard-ticket event like MTOTP is.

That is way cute! You could just hand hem it up a bit with a basting stitch. Wouldn't take long. I wouldn't use pins, because if they come undone, then you end up scratching your ankles up and leaving them on the ground for little kids to get stuck with. Also, it's easier to snag a pinned up hem on things, due to the gaps between pins - then the tearing and fabric ripping starts. (Been there, done that - bad plan!!! )
