costume help

Help me! I'm searching for items to use for a Mary Poppins costume for MNSSHP, but I'm not having much luck. I've been searching all over the net and ebay, and all I've managed to get so far is a blouse. I'm going for the Jolly Holiday look, and I still need a full white skirt, a pretty white hat, and that red corset-like thing she wears. Ok, ok, I know it's way early, but when I'm excited about something, I jump right in. If it all works out, this will be the most awesome birthday ever!

I signed up to do parades and shows for MNSSHP....I really want to be in them....but if I'm cast, I sure hope I can get that one day off to attend it! Oh, the irony....

I don't know what you are willing to spend but think about having it made! Then you can choose fabric that is just right and have it made to fit you. There are probably a gazillion seamstresses there that could work with you but I'm a costumer and would be happy to help if you need me!

Oh yeah, that's what I forgot to mention...I'm trying to get it put together as cheaply as I can. This is just for play after all...no need to spend a fortune. Actually, I do know someone who sews- my mom! She usually makes my costumes. But I don't live in the same state anymore, and she won't attempt anything without me there for a fitting.

Ok the solution for cheap costumes is the ever popular Salvation Army or Goodwill - I bet you can find a white skirt there and maybe something that you can cut down for a corset?
