Costs Help

So my fiance and I want to figure out our budget and how much we are going to be spending before we talk to the coordinator which I am sure is going to take forever. We sent our contract and everything but it would be nice to know how much things are ahead of time. That wishbook is lame and doesnt tell you much. Is there a website they send you to, to look at prices and everything there is to offer or is it just paperwork they send you about menus, floral, cakes, etc.. I hate waiting...grrr. . any tips?

Unfortunately, they have VERY little price info. All I got was the Electronic Followup Kit PDF that you prolly got when you signed your contract. I didn't even get the cake price list, since we did a custom one.

Like you, I wanted to figure out a budget beforehand - in my case, it was before I even contacted Disney. What I did was go through the BEOs that people have posted here and look for the prices of elements I knew I would have at my wedding. Then I cobbled together a budget that way.

If you do a search on BEO, it should turn up several threads where people have posted all their info. I can also answer a lot of questions about the Attic and the Lower UK dessert party.

Or if you know specific items you want you can list it and ask people for help too.

Some things are location specific and some are not, so it's hard to give you a generic cost unfortunately...

DisneyBrideToni, I'm not sure what sort of event you're planning, but I suggest that you create some sort of electronic spreadsheet and into it place all of the categories that you can think of, plus some generic pricing information. As you find out the real costs for your event, you can easily replace the generic pricing with it so that you have a running tally of what your event will cost.

When I was planning my FTW event, here are a few of the items that were in my electronic spreadsheet:

• Welcome Party
• Wedding Pavilion Fee
• Officiant Fee
• Dinner Reception Venue Fee
• Event Guides
• Custom Fireworks
• Floral
• Linens
• Food
• Beverage
• Cake
• Bartender
• Photos
• Video
• Transportation
• Taxes
• Gratuities

To your spreadsheet you can also add your dress & tuxedo costs. Your airline ticket costs. Your rental car costs. Your hotel room costs. And any other costs that you can think of. I didn't add any of those costs to my spreadsheet since I strictly wanted to keep it "event" specific, but I know many folks who included everything under the moon in their spreadsheets. It's up to you as to how much of the nitty-gritty details you want to keep track of.

We are having a wishes wedding at SBP, Attic and a DP at the UK Lower. I did exactly what you said and I found that it helped me out alot. I made up the spreadsheet and did searches on the board of certain items I wanted. It gave me a rough idea of how much we may spend. It might be a little more but it at least got me on track. Thank you so much for the tip!!

I received a estimated budget proposal as well. My father is picking up the bill for the wedding day, so he wanted to see a breakdown. It extends the planning process a bit, I think (which is why I get so nervous for not having my contract yet); but its very helpful in weeding out unnecessary expenses.

FYI, its very general and most of the prices are already listed in their website, either the weddings section or the wishbook. But what is helpful is the that they incorporate the gratuity into some of their costs (which I find helpful, less for me to think about).

For example, for the florist section, they will quote it this way:

Bride's bouquet, $250+
Bridesmaids bouquet, $125+ (then they will multiply that by # of BM)
Basket w/petals 4 flwrgl $45

for reception, they plug in a sample menu from the website,
and add in the bar ($41 per for premium open bar); soda for kids, etc

it can include everything you want in it.

I actually pumped mine up a bit (w/ premium Disney photo, video, bar, etc.) so that I could just get the shock and awe from my father out of the way , so now I'm just downsizing to the more realistic ideas that I had before. (Devious but necessary) And of course, getting so many ideas from the Disney Brides here!

It is always better to pump it up in the beginning because if it comes out to being less you feel MUCH better than if the price is more than you budgeted...LOL
