Costers for Wimps??

Thanks everybody. I do get motion sick, heights don't bother me, but I might do like somebody said and take a Dramamine (I also have some of those patches from a cruise, I wonder if that would work?). I used to love costers as a kid and did several of these 20 years ago. How bad is Everest? That seems to be the one to ride. I just don't know when we will be back to WDW and don't want to wish I had ridden any of these after we get back home.

The only thing that holds me back with Everest is the fact that it goes backwards for a little bit. Not sure about that one...the drop kind of bothers me too because it seems so steep, but it is over in a couple of seconds and there is only one big drop. Same with Splash, over in 3 seconds. Next time I will try Splash first then maybe Everest, we'll see. But that will be in 3 years son plenty of time from now and I will change my mind I am sure, at least 1000 times! ;)

I too am a roller coaster wimp but BTMR was way too jerky and rough for my taste! I thought it had the right amount of small dips and speed though.

No she meant space mountain.... I went on Space Mountain in the 80's with my oldest and will NEVER forget that feeling and have on many occasions told my friend that story because she doesnt think Space Mountain is scary and doesnt understand why I would think it was......until this time. She said there is an A and B line and she must have always gone on one (lets say B because I dont remember which one she said it was) and this time her and her daughter went on the other side, A, and when they both got off they couldnt believe how different it was. She said the easy side is more like a mouse coaster kind of thing with very few actual drops but the harder side went UP first and then dropped and they felt like they were going to fall out of their car and it was much more intense and that now she know why I felt the way I felt that time in the 80's.

Is she going nuts........? lol

I would have thought she meant Mission Space, too. Space Mountain doest have a tame side and a wild side. But Mission Space does.

last time I went on Space Mountain, it really seemed to beat my head up. :confused3 Not a smooth ride at all and I looooove roller coasters.

You sound like my husband. He gets too scared to go on Roller Coasters and then gets what I call his roller coaster remorse after we are home. He did that with the one at California Adventure in May 2006 and with Mount Everest last October. He says that he is going on that one at California Adventure when we make our next trip to Disneyland, hopefully this May, because he is still kicking himself for not going two years ago.

I tried to talk him into going on Mount Everest with me last October, but he got a bad feeling about it so we compromised and went together onto Dinosaur. Mount Everest might have been easier if it is on a smooth track because Dinosaur was jerky and much too loud. I covered my ears.

Listen to your instincts about any ride though, not just roller coasters. I didn't want to force my husband onto Mount Everest or leave him always feeling responsible for not stopping me if I went on it alone and didn't come back. He was clearly freaked out just looking at it and told me twice that he had a really bad feeling about that ride. Just because the ride didn't malfunction that day doesn't mean that my husband didn't have a justified fear. There could have been some creep in line just looking for a fight. Maybe that was the danger we avoided that day.

I don't do Coasters at all, but I don't mind spending time with my wife. So I usually wait in line with her when she gets on coasters then I just walk through and wait for her when the coaster is done. And there is no 2 lines at space mountain for wimpy riders.

I have a specifical question regarding rollarcoaster wimps.

I am not a coaster person at all, although I kinda want to be.

I can do Goofy's Barnstormer fairly well.

I've done Big Thunder Mountain twice- screamed the entire time, yelled at my family (who forced me on) -the people in front of me were actually laughing at me- but I kinda liked it, and might go on it again (depending on how courageous I'm feeling while I'm there).

My family insists that I would be able to do/handle Test Track, but I would like some other opinions.

Thanks all!

I too am a coaster wimp but promised DH and myself that I would try to do everything on our last trip. I made it onto everything except RNR. I just cannot imagine going upside down. :scared1:

The backwards part of EE is not bad at all. The speed got to me a little but I am definately going to be riding it multiple times this next trip. I also fell in love with BTMRR. Test Track is not bad at all. I was really worried about it but then I read how fast it actually goes and had to laugh because I drive a lot faster than that on the interstate. :rolleyes1 If you can ride in a car just fine then TT is no problem at all.

I would also recommend watching the ride videos on You Tube. Those helped me out a ton. :thumbsup2

If you feel this way about BTMRR then you should be able to handle Test track. I was soooooo scared or Test Track but my sister swore by it (same sister that swore by Soarin'). So I decided to try it. It was fine...the fast part is at the end and is much shorter than I thought it would be. DH was disappointed with this ride because of the short fast part. The rest of it is pretty slow, and the sharp turns are much slower than on BTMRR, or at least it felt that way.

I screamed through BTMRR too, through the fast part of Test Track, and through much of Dinosaur (more from the special effects on that one though). I am a weenie though when it comes to roller coasters and big rides, but I always feel great when I went on one and all of those were lots of fun for me. I am sure to go back on all of them when we go back to WDW!

Getting back to BTMRR, I thought it jerked me around a lot but I enjoyed that it had a few smaller dips but not huge drops. I think you would don fine with Test Track. It's lots of fun, try it!

Barnstormer should be fine and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is the smoothest coaster I've ever ridden....no big drops at all.
