Costco rebate

It might be different for Costco US (I’m in Canada) or I might have received incorrect information from the last TA I asked about this, but we were explicitly told “no” when I asked this question last month. She had me hold the line while she checked with a manager. However, it doesn’t make sense to me either, since as PP said, it is in fact a gift card and I don’t think there are restrictions on where you can use that. I was planning to try it as well!

It is a gift card, looks like all the other gifts I get from them so not sure why you couldn't . Since you can book and pay online yourself just try to pay with it and see if it works . If it doesn't do what I do, use it on gas.

From Costco Travel's T&Cs: "Costco Cash Cards may be applied toward payment of vacation packages to the Caribbean, Mexico, Hawaii, Costa Rica, Florida, Las Vegas and Europe. Costco Cash Cards may not be applied toward payment of cruises, rental cars, Disneyland® Resort packages, guided vacations or any other vacation products."

Ah. I see. If the payment is just going to a third party, and is not a Costco product, they have no way of letting you pay for it. I pay for my rentals at the rental agency, not to Costco, so I couldn't use a Costco gift card. It's the same with a DCL cruise... which is why people can use a Disney gift card to pay for their cruise using Costco as a TA. But if the item is a package that Costco is selling, that's another story, as they are the end merchant.

Can you use the Costco rebate as payment towards another cruise with Costco?

No, you may not.

(Bold denotations by me.)

This makes total sense when put this way.

When buying a Costco Disneyland vacation package at a good neighbor can you use Disney Gift Cards?
I doubt it. A good neighbor hotel is not owned by Disney and would not take their gift cards.

Yes, you can. Costco's site routes to DL's website and you book through DL, but co-branded with Costco. It's kind of like using a shopping rebate portal so Costco still gets the referral credit, and you get the perks that Costco has to offer, but it's through Disney. When booked that way, you are still subjected to DL's policies, such as PIF is 30 days before arrival, etc. Unlike with Costco > DCL, any inquiries are made directly with Disney. They have a Costco branded number you call, but it patches you through directly with a Disney CM. Sometimes they'll answer it as Costco, sometimes they're so used to answering it as Disney CMs, they don't bother with the Costco part. Even the emails comes directly from DL.

Was this at a DL Resort Hotel or one of the Good Neighbor hotels? I think that's what they were asking. I didn't think the good neighbor hotels would take the gift cards. If they do, I apologize for giving wrong information.

Yep, it was indeed a Good Neighbor hotel. As long as you book directly through Disney, Good Neighbor Hotels are included in Disney's policies including the use of gift cards, $200 deposit, and cancellation. I know, it's totally unusual and unexpected. Since Costco routes you to Disneyland's website, you're actually booking directly with DL, and only given a DL reservation number, no Costco Travel reservation # like with DCL, so it's no different than going straight to DL's site, but since it's like a referral link, Costco still gets the referral credit, thus your reservation would qualify for any perks Costco is offering at the time. Costco does offer different perks for Good Neighbor Hotels than with Disney hotels though. DL reservation, booked through Costco, staying at a Good Neighbor Hotel actually comes directly from Disney, and not Costco Travel like DCL reservations do. It's in Disney's format, lists the Good Neighbor Hotel, Costco perks included in the package, and form of payment used for the deposit, including Disney gift card.

No, you're okay. Things revolve and it's hard to keep up, we've been Costco members for years and never knew they did this. :flower3: Yes. We booked Fairfield Inn Anaheim cheaper than Disney listed, included regular park tickets plus Costco gave us one Character Meal for each person in our party and a bunch of other goodies including coupons for Disney Downtown. Very pleased! It's our first visit so four days in parks and one day in Disney Downtown.
