Costco Gas - how do you pay???

I was checking gas prices today and its up to $4.25 where I live. I did notice that Costco gas is cheaper, by nearly twenty cents per gallon. While I do shop at Costco, my local one does not have a gas station. However, I will be driving by another location later today and I can stop there and fill up my 25 gallon tank. So, my question is, what types of payments can I do at the pump? Is it the same as inside the store, cash or Amex? Can I use my regular visa at the pump or not? Thanks.

Debit, AMEX or Costco cash card. You also need to swipe the Costco membership card (unless it is a Costco AMEX, I guess).

In Illinois (sounds like there may be differences) they take Amex and debit cards. No cash. I think they may take other credit cards, but I can't personally vouch for this.

We're in Illinois also. Our Costco gas station takes Amex or Costco cash cards. I'm not sure about debit cards, but they don't take any other credit cards.

In Idaho and Nevada Costco gas pumps will accept: Amex, Debit, Costco Cash cards. :thumbsup2

Here in NJ, although we ARE members, you don't need to swipe a membership card to get gas. We can use a debit card or AMEX (but we don't have AMEX). You have to get out of the car and put in your PIN # and then they fill it up for you.

Ah, New Jersey.... (and Oregon)...

Does the attendant look at your card at all? Or is anyone allowed to use the Costco gas stations in NJ?

In Miami the costco gas station only takes Amex, Costco cash cards, and debit. You have to swipe your costco card first then your payment card.

I think the hassle of getting out of my car when I don't have to otherwise might make me think twice. ;) I think I would get very spoiled living in NJ.

Here too (MN) it is debit, Amex and Costco cash card and you do have to put in your costco membership card. Also, if using your debit you need your PIN. The first time I went to get gas there, it had literally been years since I used my PIN and I was really doubtful I was putting the right number in.

We live in IL too. The Costco stores I shop (Vernon Hills/Lake Forest and Lake Zurich) takes Amex, Costco cash cards and debit cards.

Our Costco gas is no longer cheaper than everyone else...they match the rest of the gas stations in town.

DH and I put $100 or so on a Costco gift card and use that for Costco gas purchases...usually when we go out of town.

Sounds like it's the same pretty much everywhere. California is Costco cash, debit and AMEX. And you need a Costco card.

I just downloaded the gasbuddy app, and it showed the Walmart gas station as 20 cents a gallon cheaper than Costco. Before you drive that far, make sure you look it up!

We have the Costco Amex Business card which gives us an add'l 4% back on gas. Costco is by far the cheapest place for us to fill up!
