Has anyone done the Christmas Break trip to Costa Rica?
What is the weather like, and what is the airfare like?
And being a "Latin" Country I would assume everything is closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.:confused3 Is that the case, and if not do they do anything special for Christmas?

Any help will be appreciated!!

We did the Costa Rica Trip this past Christmas. We thought all the restaurants and shops would be closed on Christmas, but they weren't. We had our Christmas Eve and Christmas morning breakfast at the hotel, but we noticed that there were many places open if we wanted to take a taxi. As for the weather, we did not have good weather (lots and lots of rain), but my Aunt and Uncle went the following week and had nice weather. It is the rainy season, and you are in the rainforest (as we kept getting reminded). My youngest daughter loved the rain, but it was a bit much for me and my other 2 daughters. There were lots of teenagers on this trip, and my then 14 year old had a blast. As far as the airfare goes, it was no bargain, but I don't remember it being horrible. Please feel free to ask any other questions.

I've been to Costa Rica as Christmas breaks were ending, so early January. We had great weather. Yes, we had some rain, but as PP mentioned, it is the rainforest. Actually, most of our rain hit while we were hiking to see Rio Celeste (don't think ABD does this, which I highly recommend).

Ps. Our trip was not with ABD, but on our own.
