We are considering doing a Dune Buggy, Jeep Safari or All Terrain Truck excursion on Costa Maya.

Can anyone help with details of the three different excursions offered on the DCL Website:

1. If you have done one of these excursions, can you provide your 'trip report'?

2. If you have done more than one, which do you prefer and why?

All Terrain Truck Expedition (CM-09)
Go for the ultimate joyride aboard a 4 x 4 military-style, all-terrain truck customized for your comfort as you blaze through the tropical Caribbean terrain. With the warm wind racing across your face, travel south along the untainted coastline to a private beach and enjoy one and a half hours of swimming and sun-kissed bliss.
Activity Level: Active
For Ages: All Ages
Adult Price: $75 (ages 10 and up)
Child Price: $55 (ages 3-9)
Duration: 4 hours

Dune Buggy Exploration (CM-11)
Jump inside a dune buggy and travel south as you pass the charming village of Mahahual on a picture perfect tour of unspoiled coastal roads and sun-drenched beaches. Afterwards, nap in a hammock, go for a refreshing swim or simply stroll the endless shore and enjoy everything the Mayan Riviera has to offer for 1 1/2 hours.
Activity Level: Active

4 x 4 Jeep Safari (CM-12)
Hold on tight as you embark on a rugged 4 x 4 ride through the diverse jungle terrain of the Mexican Caribbean! Navigate your way down the coastline to the turquoise waters of Pleasure Beach. Then, enjoy an hour and a half of fun in the sun amidst a tropical background before jumping into your Jeep for the scenic ride back.

I am fresh off the western and no Costa Maya. We went to Cozumel. Are you sure you will be in costa Maya?

I am looking in to doing this as well. CM11 You drive and you must 18 and have a valid driver lincence to do it. THat much I do know.

I think Costa Maya is new for DCCL --they are adding or experimenting with new iteneriaries
I went on Princes but it rained so we did not do much
These must be new as well as i do not rember seeng them
But I would suggest doing something as it is a small village with shopping right of the beech
But it is nice there is you just wnat to relax and have a drink ..one of the nicer stops in Mexico...
Good Luck
Try a yahoo or Google search there are some cruise line sites that rate them and have forums as well :thumbsup2

We just did this on the May 27th double dip. It was fun but for my family there was too much road driving. I felt like I was driving down an interstate. I was expecting much more off road driving. We did a dune buggy tour on our own in Cozumel 2 years ago and it was almost all off road. The beach you go to was really nice, with clean restrooms. Lunch was ham sandwiches if you were brave enough. I had a bottle of water and a few nacho's. They cut open some coconuts for everyone to try also.
Like I said it was fun but I would probably not do it again, it really depends on what kind of ride you are looking for. By the way I have kids that are 14 and 11 and they both loved the beach but were not impressed with the "off road riding".

Hope this helps you

The 'Double Dip' Cruises are Cozumel and Costa Maya ... this is not the 'Western' or 'Eastern'.

Thanks for the info! I would really like to be 'off road' ... maybe we'll try the 4 x 4 Jeep Safari (CM-12). I also want to drive ... I have a funny feeling that the All Terrain Truck Expedition (CM-09) is 'ride' only.
