We've just had to change our dates for our booking. We couldn't get POR as there was no availability the CM managed to find only a standard room at the Coronaldo at shorten the length. She told us we would receive a refund and quoted the difference but there was no mention of a fee to change I thought it was less we couldn't.

I am already under stress having to change dates and resort. Can't believe POR is all booked up. :-(

If you're booking a new reservation, there's no fee. I never heard of one. And it doesn't matter that the new reservation costs less. There are, however, fees for modifying an existing reservation after a certain time period. For package reservation, a fee applies at less than 45 days from check-in. For room-only, a fee applies for less than 5 days from check-in.

I can't say why POR is full. Perhaps because of the number of nights you need. Maybe there's been a special price offer or Free Dining offer. We usually always stayed at POR or POFQ and shied away from Coronado Springs. But last year we gave CS a try and loved it. We're staying at CS again this year.

One thing I know that can't be done with Disney is changing WDW tickets that you already have, to lesser tickets. They won't allow that, except under special circumstance. But hotel reservations, no.

If you have a room only reservation there is no penalty for changes to dates and/or resorts up to 5 days before your arrival date.

If you have a package and are more than 45 days before arrival date there is no penalty for changing. If you are within 45 days of arrival a change that results in a lower overall price can incur a $50 change fee.

I managed to change the booking but was not advised of a fee. The CM told me how much I was going to get refunded.

But did you originally have a package or a room only reservation? How far out were you from your original check in date?

If you had a room only reservation, there is no change fee. If you are more than 45 days out from a package stay, you won't be charged a fee. If you are less than 45 days from a package stay, then you will be charged a change fee. I think it's still $50, but they may have changed with the other rule changes this summer
