can some one tell me how much a gallon of milk and a dozen eggs will cost in the campground? i am trying to decide if its worth ordering from garden grocer or just getting it inside when we arrive? anyone just been thanks for any help you can give me we leave in 68 days :cool1: :cool1:

$142.77 and that is for a quart of milk and 2 hard boiled eggs.:scared1:

Honestly, I really do not know but I know it is not cheap. Everything is at least twice the cost and more of getting at the supermarket.

Compared to other campgrounds, FW prices really aren't all that bad. I would think if you are just interested in a gallon of milk and some eggs, it would not be worth the delivery charge to have Garden Grocers deliver.

beer on the other hand is $50/case at the Fort, so bring plenty.

As of June 2006 (from Jeff Spencer's site http://home.hiwaay.net/~jlspence/faq_fw.htm), 1/2 gallon of 2% milk was $3.15 and 1 dozen eggs were $1.39.

If that's accurate, it's not bad. $50 for a case of beer, though, should qualify as a violation of some sort of price-gouging statute that I'm sure is in place under Florida law somewhere because of hurricanes - LOL. For some of us, beer is a staple just like milk, water, or bread. Heck, beer is made from 2 of those 3 things anyway. (before I get any serious rebuttals on the beer comment, please understand it's just a remark made in jest.)

Anyone know where the closest grocery and/or off-site fast food places are and how long it takes to drive there from FW? We're having a hard time figuring out what we want to take for our 8 days there and how much of it we'll actually use vs. eating in the parks or picking up something quick during a break from the parks. So, it would be nice to know where we can quickly run out and pick something up if needed.

When we were there in June 07 it was 3.50for 1/2 gallon. As you know milk is now going like gas, it may be higher when you get there.

That would be about an 11% increase since last year. So that should give you a rough idea for the other items. :)

It is probably only about 5 to 7 minute drive to the Winn Dixie on Apopka Vineland Rd...a lot of people prefer the Publix which is a little farther...but I usually just hit the WD....fine for basic food items and close. Lots of FF venues along Apopka Vineland as well (Taco Bell, McD's, Papa Johns, Dunkin Donuts and assorted other places)

Do you mind giving me directions from FW to the Winn Dixie you are referring to?
Thanks a bunch,
Jean

You can also go to the SuperDuperWalMart on 535 and it is not that far out. We go there to stock up on anything we forgot. They have the regular Walmart prices, not jacked up for tourists. You take a left out of the Fort and go to the first light and take a right and go through Downtown Disney and the hotels until you hit 535. Take a right and it is a couple of miles down on the right. It is just before the Osceola Pkwy. It is worth it if you need to get more than a couple of things, or you need to get some serious things, like radiator pellets to temp. fix the radiator that let go in the overflow parking lot. (Sorry, memories of last month are still fresh in my mind:scared1: ) We go there often enough now that we know where everything is! ( I know, very scary indeed)
