Hi - we're driving down on the 26th of april and I'm trying to get a handle on how much gas will be. Has anyone driven down lately? What did you spend on gas? Is it getting ridiculous in the states (as it is here!)?
Thanks in advance!

Just returned on Sunday. Paid anywhere from 2.12 to 2.65 per gallon. Hess in WDW was always the cheapest in the area.

We were down for 2 weeks and made daily trips to malls, parks, restaurants, etc. Total for the Ford Freestar was $320 US, that covered 5100 km.

What kind of car are you taking? That will definately make a difference in what you will spend on gas. To give you an example, we drove our 2003 grand prix last october and total round trip expense with a side trip to the other side of florida for a few days only cost us $300.00 total. It was a very good car on gas for being a sports car. (5100 kms) If you want to look at gas prices before you go check out this site.

www.gasbuddy.com

It gives you the lowest posted prices in Canada and the United States.

I am looking forward to our trip in Oct again this time with our new van (2002 Montana) to see what kind of mileage we will be looking at this time. So far we are very impressed with the mileage for a large vehicle.

The real nice thing about gasbuddy is it will also show you the highest rates. And now they have a "gas temperature" map showing you where prices are higher or lower by county. That way you can plan while driving. For example fueling up in Tifton or Valdosta is a very good idea before crossing over into Florida. Gas is much cheaper in most of Georgia other than Atlanta.

Wow - this is all good stuff to know. We're driving a Mercury Villager Van (1993?) with a rooftop carrier. Looked into the autotrain but it's still cheaper to drive I think.

We drove on the March Break and we have a large mini van Montana 2000 and it cost us $200.00 total there and back. We also drove right over to Clearwater and then drove around in town for the week. Hope this helps.

We drove our smart car down to Disney last December would you belive $85.00 Dh says DH says 65.00 but I think it is closer to my est. No lie. From Toronto to WDW and from the Cruise Port to Barrie. Now you know why they call it a smart car. :)
