We are flying economy with VA and would like to take a few more suitcases for the return journey especially. Does anyone have a current cost on this. Thank you :)

I dont think you can. you are only allowed 2 suitcases per person, weighing 23kgs each suitcase, you may be charged if you go over that weight. you can though buy things like golf clubs/ baby items- highchair/puschair etc and they will not count as part of your luggage allowance.

From the VA website -

EXCESS CHARGE PER PIECE
Economy passengers travelling on flights to/from the USA, Caribbean, Cuba, Jamaica, Nairobi, Kenya and Nigeria are allowed up to 2 pieces of baggage, each weighing up to 23kg as their free allowance.

Therefore, passengers wishing to check in baggage weighing more than their allowance of 23kg, will be charged GBP35 / USD70 per piece of baggage for each flight taken.

EXCESS CHARGE FOR ADDITIONAL PIECES OF BAGGAGE

Economy and Premium Economy passengers, wishing to check in additional pieces of baggage over the free allowance, (more than 2 pieces of baggage), will be charged GBP90 / USD150 per bag.

Upper Class passengers, wishing to check in additional pieces of baggage over the free allowance, (more than 3 pieces of baggage), will also be charged GBP90 / USD150 per bag.

Are you taking too much out with you?

If there are two of you, thats a total of 92 Kilos! :scared1:

You could of course, go to PE, that will give you a total of 128 Kilos :happytv:

We pack an empty holdall in our cases on the way out so we can accommodate any extra luggage o the way home.

Have never had a problem of needing more than 2 cases per person though.

We have two big suitcases, and two little suitcases. On the way out, most of our two-week holiday stuff is crammed into the little suitcases, and then they are put in the big one. We also have a holdal that we bought from Disney last year, which goes out flat-packed, and can back either flat-packed or full!

This year we brought five cases back, but all apart from one were under 15kg! We just spread it all around a bit. With three people, one in a wheelchair, one pushing, it leaves just one person to pull all the suitcases! :rotfl:

I am very happy at two pieces of luggage. I totally misunderstood the Virgin instructions and took it as 23kg in total. Wow that means all four of us have two pieces each.:cool1:
I think I got confused because last year we went with TUI and it was one bag only. Thank you so much, we may have travelled out with only one bag otherwise. That would have been tricky with two 19yr old shopaholic boys.:)

Just got back yesterday, 3 of us had a combined allowance of 138kg, only used 31kg split between 2 cases, included 2 pairs of shoes DW didn't wear as well as our swimwear & goggles all unused.
