We are planning on eating at Cosmic Rays for Lunch, anyone been there lately have any good/bad reviews? We will probably be leaving shortly after lunch and thought maybe we could go to a resort to eat instead. What would you suggest?

In my opinion Cosmic Ray's is one of the better CS restaurants.

They offer a ok variety, but their portions are very generous. Some of the options 2 adults could easily share with an extra drink/side.

We try and always make this CS a stop on our vacation.

Cosmic Rays is a counter service restaurant with decent burgers, chicken and ribs. My DW loves it because of Sony Eclipse, and we eat there once every trip.

Other good places for lunch in the Magic Kingdom IMHO are Liberty Tree Tavern or Plaza Restaurant.

In the Magic Kingdom resort area our favorite lunch places outside of the park are Grand Floridian Café, (Grand Floridian) Kona Café, (Polynesian) or Whispering Canyon Café (Wilderness Lodge) we have not yet tried The Wave (Contemporary) yet.

Thank you both, if we don't get over heated, I would like to it at Cosmic Rays, catch the parade and head back to the resort by 12:30-1:00 pm

We always stop at cosmic rays when we get to mk at lunch time. It is a decent counter service option. One suggestion. Check the menus above the lines first. There are different 'bays" and different lines have different food options. (burgers, chicken, etc) Choose what you want before you do all that waiting.

We generally think it is one of the better CS restaurants. There are some pictures and our thoughts from our trip in June here.

Hope this helps some. :)

We ate there in May and had great burgers/fries. I think the size of the food is rather large, and I never can finish my entire lunch/dessert. As other posters have said, Cosmic Rays is one of the better CS restaurants (we think it's the best in MK). If you were to venture to a resort for a CS lunch I'd say the Wilderness Lodge has a really good CS, at Roaring Forks, the Animal Kingdom Lodge has a great CS at the Mara, and we also really enjoy Saratoga Springs Resort has The Artis's Palatte which is also really good.

For my family, Cosmic Ray's is a must do everytime we hit the Magic Kingdom. We love the variety and the toppings bar. Even being from the Philly area, I love their cheese steak sandwich, my DH loves either the chicken meal or burgers depending what mood he's in. Then there are our children...they are good eaters and they would eat anything on that menu. Like I said, it's a must do for us because it really has a great selection and of course the entertainment is not to be missed :lmao:

Everything everyone else has said, Plus, the air conditioning is WONDERFUL!!!!:thumbsup2

It's pretty much your basic burgers and chicken counter service. Nothing great but nothing terrible. The AC is nice and watching the show is fun.

Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe is my favorite Quick Service location in the Magic Kingdom and when I am there I order the Chicken Breast Nuggets. Plus for my French Fries I like to get their Cheese Sauce which I always enjoy having.

i think cosmic rays is fine but if you have the option of a sit down venue with better food at one of the resorts i'd do that over cosmic rays. it's also a nice way to ease our of your vacation...leave park but still feel disney since you're at a resort, eat then head home. we do it that way a lot.

The one thing I thought I would point out to you is that if you want to head back to your room around 12:30 - 1PM you will miss the parade as it starts at 3PM.

They changed the times of the parades while I am there, it is at 12 pm and 3 pm. We were going to see the 12 pm show.

I love Cosmic Ray's! On our last trip, we weren't on the DDP and we DH and I made a light dinner of one chicken and ribs combo and then had some dole whips later.:thumbsup2 We were stuffed!

We plan to dine there at least once or twice on each trip.
