Okay So I just got this 20% for certain dates to use on our first trip to disney, DS (5) DD (10) whats the best resort Cornado or Pop? Theres a small difference in Price but the 20% brings the Cornado back into my range!

:confused3

If it is in your range, go for CSR ! :thumbsup2 Great resort. Save POP for a trip when moderate is not in the budget.

CSR has a better pool and slide if you have kids in your party, good transportation and it more central to the parks than POP. I like the food choices at CSR as well.

Hopper Fan, I see that u attended some of the halloween parties in the past? what did u think of it? I have a 5 and 11yr old and I think we will be there the time of the Halloween party? And Advice?

I liked both of them. Coronado is a moderate and Pop is a value resort. Disney lists the differences between the two resort categories pretty well on their website.

Having said that, I think the differences are things that most folks can probably live with.

If the theming of one interests you greatly over the other, then you should go with that resort. Like if you live in, or have ever lived in the Southwestern US, you might yearn for a southwest theme - or you might be opposed to a Disney version. Maybe you love or dislike Mexican food. Pop is more generic American. I can also say that Coronado in one of few places on property that HAS Mexican food, and it has the best Mexican food on property.

Coronado is also a convention resort. So if you stay there you may well see convention goers. I didn't mind it, but some folks dislike it. Sometimes the conveniotn goers do drink at the pool bar. Every Disney resort has a bar at their main pool, but the one at Coronado attacts more drinkers perhaps than other resorts. Also, the folks hanging out there may well be discussing their convention - and not so much which park they just came from.

Pop has better transportation though, IMO.

Both are large resorts.

We got a 40% off code and we were thinking about the CSR but then after we really thought about how much we were going to actually be there we decided against it and booked POP. We are doing the DDP and Waterparks and more so we can eat anywhere and have slides at the waterparks. We will be at POP to sleep and rest that's it.

The MNSSHP is the best. We will go back again. DD is 7 and she loved it! It isnt scary, it was fun to dress up as adults with DD. We trick or treated, rode the haunted mansion and wishes was awesome. Do it if you get the chance! :thumbsup2

THanks hohoz that look at things really helps, thats us too! I appreciate your response...I actually appreciate EVERYONES response, these boards are GREAT

For the same price I'm going CSR everytime! Nine trips and counting and never a problem with any convention goers or any guests. Great CM's, awesome food, the best pool/slide and the best transportation. Check out my CSR website below for pics and info.

I sent you a PM :thumbsup2

I would stay away form POP if you can. I have stayed at both several times, and would go back to CSR in a heartbeat. I have never had any complaints in the times we have stayed there. I love the place.
Covered bus stops with no lines!
It is normally very quiet!
Quiet pools, and a large main pool with slide!
The food court food can be more expensive because there is a gratuity added, but the selection and taste has always been great, and they give you HUGE portions!

CSR will probably be much quieter and more relaxing.

I've always felt that Pop had a very frenzied, hectic feel to it.

Another vote for CSR over Pop. I like them both but CSR wins for the reasons stated above. The only minor drawback is that CSR is huge, so you might wind up doing a bit more walking than you would at Pop (although this isn't true in all cases).

 Would you also suggest Port Orleans over one of the All star resorts?? We ended up with a 40% discount - so a moderate is an option for us now. Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts about it.

Most definitely. POR is great!!!

I have not stayed at the CSR as yet, but as a person who has stayed at various levels of resorts, I would suggest a moderate over a value resort if it is within your budget.
While the values are great if you just want a room to sleep in, the amenities that the moderates offer are a perk that I really missed staying in a value.
If my budget allows I prefer to stay in a moderate.

I've stayed at CSR and POP with the last year and they are really different from each other.
I felt POP had almost more of a theme park feel to it. Huge icons all around the resort that kids absolutely love, a fun food court and souvenir shop, and all around fun atmosphere.
CSR is a very classy resort, and you actually feel like you are in the southwest. But it is absolutely huge. It was such a long walk to the main pool that my kids didn't think it was worth the hassle. And I was not impressed with the Pepper Market at all.
I am going back to POP my next vacation for monetary reasons. I will consider POFQ or RS or even CB if I can swing a moderate next time, but CSR just wasn't the right resort for me.

I am sure what ever you decide will be wonderful, and you will have fun. A lot depends on how much time you will spend at the resort as well. I could never see spending extra money to stay at a mod, when I can stay a couple extra nights at POP for the money saved :)
