Coronado vs. CBR - Let's Have It....

I think we're going to choose CBR because of the pool. It seems like it is more kid friendly with the little splash park, zero entry, and water slides.

Definitely good choice if you have little ones! the zero entry pool is great! Its good for me too cause im so clumsy getting in and out of pools. :teeth: They will love the pirate splash park. its so cool!

CBR now too have the same sliding doors that separate the sinks from the bedroom!! The refurbed rooms are gorgeous! I loved it a lot. CBR has such a relaxing tropical vibe to it. Ive stayed at both and I definitely prefer CBR for theme (gorgeous resort), food court, and pool.

The pictures on the website are still showing curtains. Is this true for standard rooms?

This is the pic I took of the room...see, sliding doors! Jamaica section, building 45. Its right at the bridge, good location for a standard room. Just a short walk over to the main building!

In my honest opinion, we weren't fans of the CBR pool. The zero entry area is relatively small, and the lounge chairs were all crammed in the same corner (and always full). The rest of the lounge chairs were along the walk way of the pool, and behind it on the opposite side, which was essentially cut off from the main area and entertainment. I don't have kids so I don't know how much of a factor the zero entry is, but CSR had a much cooler slide, and it was a larger more open area - felt a lot less crowded.

We had a standard king room at CBR and had the sliding doors as well. I think the only rooms that still have curtains are the pirate rooms - those were not being refurbed to my knowledge. They are a separate booking category.

.

CBR is the only mod with a zero entry pool, that can be huge for parents of wee ones. Yes, the slide at CSR is longer. And I know what you mean about the lounging area, the one at CSR is a bit bigger and better laid out. BUT, it depends on how you look at it. The area behind the slide/entertainment area at CBR is nice for people who want to be away from the crowd/noise for a little bit. That might be what some people are looking for. Both pools are great, but again, the pirate splash area and zero entry is a winner with kids. All depends on your family.

Thank you goofy. That gives us a couple of options.

We hate CBR. We'd honestly rather stay at a value than CBR... By we, I mean myself, my parents, and my bf. I'd only stayed there once with my parents over 10 years ago, and we didn't like it. We stayed there again last year (myself, my parents, and my bf - only resort available) and reconfirmed that we didn't like it.

We just think the theme is kinda lame. The best part about the Caribbean are the BEACHES, not the architecture. We're not pirate fanatics, either. Also, CBR is typically FILLED with kids, whereas CSR has way more of an adult crowd. Much more our style!

The buildings at CBR look like cheap apartment buildings, and the public areas are super crowded. CSR is better in every way.

Stupid question....I know both resorts are large & spread out. But looking at maps of both, there looks like there are parking areas outside of each village. Am I seeing that correctly?? We usually drive to the parks, & at the end of the day I would rather be able to park outside our village & walk to the room, than enjoy a leisurely stroll around Lago Dorado or Barefoot Bay.

Yep, you're seeing that correctly! All the moderates have parking lots outside each building area.

We like both resorts. One thing I like about CSR is the sliding doors that separate the sink area from the area with the beds. When we travel it is me, DH, and my two sons so it is nice to have the private area to get ready in the mornings. I wish more resorts would add those doors.

They added it to the new CBR rooms.

Are the sliding doors noisy? We have super light sleepers.

They are very quiet but I did notice that the doors in our room at CBR left about a 1.5 inch crack down the middle when the doors were shut, so light still filtered into the room in case that bothers anyone. Wasn't an issue for us.

Awesome, thanks! I think we're going to give it a whirl. :)

Totally agree with pp rooms are outdated and need a refurb at CSR! Would definitely choose CBR!

I'm puzzled. CSR rooms were rehabbed just a couple/few years ago. Or has it really been longer?????

I believe it was 2010. It is hard to believe they look that bad now. I know 2 years ago the rooms still were in great shape. I don't think they are outdated at all. In fact, I think they look pretty upscale. Even more so than the new rooms at CBR.

I agree. I was there 2 years ago as well and the rooms at CSR were in excellent shape! I think CBR is nicer because it has just been refurbed, but there's nothing wrong with CSR rooms. Not out dated at all. The resort looks great overall.
