Just booked Coronado for end of September. Any suggestions on which part of the property to reserve our room. The hotel is huge! Also, if anyone has stayed there, I would like to hear about it too. Thanks. :rolleyes1

Hi and welcome to the DIS!

If you do a search on this board, you will find dozens of threads on CSR that will probably answer many of your questions.

Depends what you are looking for

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site over the wooden bridge. Most preferred location.

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building. Some rooms within steps of the Dig Site.

Cabana 8b and 9a are inbetween the 2 above. cabana 9a has a quiet pool. cabana 9a also has smoking optional rooms so make sure you are clear as to what you will accept.

Cabana rooms are mostly waterview rooms or non parking lot views.

Rancho 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a. rancho 6b is also fairly close to the main pool area.

Casita 4 is close to the gym, spa and has quiet pool. THe casitas have great fountains and courtyards. casita 5 is close to the Dig Site with a good walk to the main building. The lower the casita number the closer towards the main building.

CSR is our favorite resort! We have stayed there several times. Our favorite area is Casitas #3. It has beautiful fountains, topiary gardens and also close to one of the quiet pools.

We just stayed there for the first time in April and loved Casitas #3. We had requested cabana 9b but did not get it. Once we got settled in we realized we really loved our location. Close to the main building and food, close to the first bus stop both pick-up and drop off which we liked. We did not like the main bus stop at the main building due to being more crowded and usually the last stop to pick-up so a little harder to get seats together. We only went to the dig site once but they have an internal golf-type carts that drive around the lake to hop on that we rode over and back so there was little walking. We found it extremely quite and the quiet pool was never crowded, with the exception of ducks in the pool a few times which my kids loved. I would definately request the same building again. Only down fall was there was not a sand beach with hammocks right by the building. They were not far but a little walk was required.

Hope this helps.

We had also requested Cabanas but we got Casitas 5b. We loved it. It seemed like we were about half way from the main building and halfway from the Dig Site. I think next time we are going to try to get Cabanas again, but wouldnt have a problem with any of the Casita buildings.

This has been my least favorite resort. We were in Casitas in 12/03. To get anywhere it was a long hike. Parking was really bad too. The grounds were nice but all the resort grounds are nice IMHO.

We like the Ranchos. They are pretty close to the Dig Site. But are quiet and far away from the main building.

We just returned from CSR and loved it. We stayed in Cabanas 9a. Our room over looked a quiet pool. We too found ducks in the pool and the kids loved it. At night, we would walk out to the hammocks which are right across from the building. It was a little walk from the main building, but the golf carts seemed to be running frequently. Have a good time.

If they try to give you Ranchos 6A ask for something else! ;)

We stayed in Ranchos 7B last June and loved it. It was a quiet area. We were near the quiet pool and not far from either the Dig site or the bus stop. Also, we thought the theming was beautiful.

I think you need to decide what you will utilize the most at the resort. For us, we have younger kids and will be doing naps and rest time in the afternoon so we want to be close to the dig site and a bus stop. I requested Cabanas but will also like the Ranchos section right by the Dig site, closest to Cabanas. I think Casitas looks the prettiest and is close to the restaurants, lounge etc.. but far from the themed pool. I also heard if there is a convention going on, they try and keep them all in Casitas. Some of the Ranchos buildings, seem far from everything - so if you want peace and quiet, they would be perfect.

Didn't mean to confuse you! If you want to stay in the Ranchos I suggest requesting 7B. Our group was split and we were in 6A and they were in 7B.
7B was a much nice location!
