kinlaw,
I stayed there last year for the first time after only having stayed at deluxe resorts. I only say that because I was unsure what the difference in the resorts would be between mods and deluxes. I have to say that I loved this resort. DD 3yo and I had a super time there, and spent most of the time relaxing at the pool, renting bikes to ride around the lake, renting peddle boats, walking around the lake at night. I saw young boys fishing, (you can rent fishing poles at the marina), there are fish/duck food dispensers, so you could easily unload fifty dollars on fish/duck food with little kids. It is really fun to just walk around and look at the different areas, cabana, casita, and I can't remember the name of the other. Each area has a quiet pool, and there is the main pool. The main pool has a slide, great playground, and a kiddie pool. There is hair braiding at the pool, and a great pool bar with food. There is also a game room there. The bus transportation from the resort was very efficient. I loved the gift shop with its many Mexican items. We had fun just looking around in there. I even came home with a pottery dog who has an ear of corn in his mouth. Very weird, but we love him and named him Josea. We had a corner room on the second floor near the pool. The room was pretty big for what I expected. There is a coffee maker in the room. We just had a great time. You can sit on the little beach area at the cabanas or rest in a hammock there. I really felt I was near Mexico or at least in the Amer Southwest when I stayed there. We liked it a lot, and would definitely, definitely stay there again. Don't set you sights so high that you will set yourself up to be disappointed. It might help to look for all the great things about the resort, and look right past anything that you don't like. The landscaping is beautiful also.
