Can you get a Junior Suite and a preferred room with a connecting door in between them? TIA

There are Junior suites in the preferred buildings, but my gut feeling is that they wouldn't have suites that connect to anything else. But I can't swear to that.

Keep in mind connecting rooms, where they exist, are never guaranteed.
