How is breakfast at the Maya Grill? Probably more importantly, how is the coffee? My DH loves breakfast and the last couple of times we have eaten at Kona, but since we won't have a car this time, I really don't want to deal with trying to get to the Poly.

Breakfast WAS good.... I dont think there is breakfast anymore at Maya Grill, only PM. At PM its a buffet... But we haven't tried it yet.

Looks like you are right. Guess certain websites need to update their info. Guess Kona it is.

Are there any places to refill a mug late or very early? (After midnight, 5-6am)

I think you can get refills at Rix Cafe during late night hours...

12 days!! I am not doing online check in because the options I want are not listed on the survey. I'll just check in when we get there.

We could use some pixie dust. I'm on antibiotics for bronchitis and am slowly getting better but am not 100% yet. My main worry is dd, coughing a lot and congested. The doctor switched her allergy meds, but so far no improvement. I'm very worrying about this morphing into an ear infection before our flight and trip. I told dd to let me know ASAP if her ears hurt or feel clogged and I'll take her back to the doctor. Prayers and PD for quick healing and no ear infections are appreciated! :flower3:

Wishing you and your family good health and safe travels! pixiedust: You will probably know before you leave if your DD is geting an ear infection. My DD9 is prone to them, and she gets checked before every trip if she is showing any signs of getting one. Since you are flying, you might consider getting her checked a few days before your trip if she isn't better by then.

Hi everyone!! I actually stayed at CSR in July for a conference but I was so busy with that and with the parks that I feel like I barely explored the resort. I'm going again in January 2013 with my family and we've booked a junior suite. Does anyone have any recommendations about potential requests related to ideal suite locations? I believe that most of them are in the Casitas....but does anyone know if there are certain blocks that have water views ...........or are they located on all 3 floors .........or do any have decent views of any fireworks, etc?? I'm looking for any insight...

Thanks!!!
Jen

Almost all of the junior suites are in the casitas - I think most are in casitas 1 and 3. There are two in the cabanas. I think the fireworks can be seen from the top floor of casitas 4 and 5. I don't think there are any junior suites in 4 or 5.

I'm not sure about water views for the junior suites.

Hey there.

I am new to this forum. Our family always stays at the Beach Club each August so I spend most of my time on the Beach Club forum.

I am heading down to WDW for my annual December conference and I received a great rate at Coronado Springs. $620 for 4 nights (room only). Since I have never stayed at CS before I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on the resort since I am totally clueless on it.

I will be traveling alone so I would prefer to be as close to the main building as possible and I also prefer an upper level room. Convenience is key for me.

Also any recommendations for dining options would be greatly appreciated as well!

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!!

J

The buildings closest to the main building are casita 1 (preferred) and cabana 9B ( standard, but may occasionally have club level as part of a convention). Casita 1 is located between bus stop #1 (picked up last when going to the parks) and bus stop #2 (picked up and dropped off first when going to/from the parks). Cabana 9B is located between bus stop #1 and bus stop #4 (picked up and dropped off third when going to and from the parks).

The cabanas section has two floors. The casitas have three or four floors, depending on the building. The fourth floor of casita 2 is somewhat-affectionately known as "no man's land" - the elevator only goes to the third floor, so you either have to walk up the stairs to the fourth floor or take the casitas 3 elevator to the fourth floor and walk around. Just FYI.

If you have booked a preferred room, you will be in casitas 1, 2 or 3, so you will be close to the main building. If so, I'd request high floor and closest to the main building. If you have booked a standard room, I'd make the same requests, but you might end up across the resort from the main building. If you are put in a location that you don't like, you can ask at check-in to be moved. The CMs are generally very accommodating if they have availability.

If you booked standard and have the option to upgrade to preferred, you might want to do that that since you will be near the main building and the first bus stop picked up and dropped off when going to the parks. We prefer the cabanas to be close to the Dig Site, so we always book a standard room.

We have 13 more sleeps :cool1: and just got picked to try out the new Fast Pass + system  . We got to choose 4 different experiences at the Magic Kingdom and will be sent our special fast passes in the mail. I will be honest and admit I am not sure if I like being locked into rides at certain times this far in advance - my friends already think I'm crazy planning what park on what day and where we will eat at 180 days out :rotfl2: but I can see definite advantages to this. I think I would be more excited if the park was HS - we have yet to be able to get on Toy Story Mania, and RnR Coaster is always a wait. But really looking forward to trying the new system.

And REALLY looking forward to our first stay at CSR!!!!!

Bumping this back up!

I'm leaving in 15 days and finally thought of a CSR related question (this thread has answered everything else!). Do they have luggage carts to haul your stuff to your room? I'm shipping a box that will weigh somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 pounds. I know we can have them deliver it to our room, but I thought I read that we needed to be there when they delivered it. I'd like to just go to Epcot rather than wait around for them to show up. BUT, with two young ones in tow, I don't want DH to have to lug a 20 pound box too far (we're preferred...but still!).

Thanks a ton!

So excited...we just book Nov.23-30 at CSR. We have never stayed here and after reading this post we decided to change to CSR. It sounds amazing. It is a surprise trip for our kids DD12 & DS3, we aren't telling them until we our on our way. If anyone has any tips about this resort I would love to here them.:goodvibes

9 days! I ended up taking dd back to the dr. yesterday. No ear infection brewing, but she still has a nasty sounding cough. Because we're traveling, he did a chest x-ray just in case and it was fine. Both doctors she saw came to the conclusion that it's allergy related and we're hoping she'll clear up by the time we travel in 9 days!!!!! Single digit dance!!

:dance3::dance3::dance3:

We are not doing online check-in because my TA is calling with my room requests (which are not options on online check-in) and I want to make my requests in person when we arrive. We arrive the day before a convention arrives, so I hope the check-in area won't be too busy.

Getting our packing list ready this weekend and packing next weekend.

Do the washers and dryers still operate with quarters, or were they converted to a cashless (RDIF) system?

7 days for us! :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

I'm packing this weekend. It's the kids favorite part - we lay out all our outfits, then put them in gallon or 2 gallon ziploc bags. They like it because they get to sit on them to get the air out while DH zips them.

I still have to go to the store to get a few things - 2 more Frogg Toggs, a bottle of vodka, and some coffee pods. (I keep reading the new coffee pods are awful)

We are so excited! Today we are surprising the kids with their Disney vacation. Heading down to the airport hotel this afternoon and flying out tomorrow morning!! I can't wait to see their faces.

How is the disney transportation from this resort compared to POR and POFQ? I'm worried that it being so far out from everything except for AK may be a detriment.

We will not have a car and need to rely on dis transportation.

Also, trying to make a decision between mods or biting the bullet and go deluxe. Will be traveling during holiday week.

Right now we are booked in 2 rooms at Pop as we are a family of 6. But, my 2 oldest decided they don't want to go on another Disney trip this year. :confused3

So, my DH suggested going to a mod instead of value, he'd rather have the queen size beds, the hot tub, the more subtle colors, etc. ;)
So, the only mods with availability on the FD for our week (December 10-16 with a room only on December 9) are CBR or CSR. CBR is out, I've heard bad things & they only have double beds, so we're looking at CSR. We'll have a 3 year old & an 11 year old with us.

Are the preferred buildings only in the Casitas? We're more interested in the Cabanas buildings, are they standard rooms?

Actually, CSR isn't as "far out" as you might think. It's right down the road from the Epcot and DHS entrances - it's actually very centrally located, IMO. Once you are leaving the front gate of the resort, it's probably 8-10 min to Epcot and DHS, maybe 13-15 to MK. I know we got on an early bus to MK last year - got on right at 7:00 AM, still had to pick up at El Centro, then drive to MK, and we were still there by 7:20. Since CSR's main entrance is on the main road through the southern part of the property, I think it's shorter than Pop, POFQ, and others, since #1, CSR doesn't share buses, and #2, there is easy access to that main road.

:stir:

Doesn't the whole "doesn't share buses" thing seem a bit over-hyped? CBR doesn't share buses and if you look at PO as a whole it has its own system too.

Now the deluxes sharing buses seems a bit...cheap. :duck:

I don't think so. CBR has 7 bus stops plus internal buses. CSR only has 4 bus stops. POR/FQ has 5 if the bus your on stops at all of them. I was there last year and it did just that many times. And that loop around POR/FQ is no where near the same size as CSR.

The preferred buildings are casitas 1, 2 and 3. We also prefer the cabanas and make that request each time. There are standard view and waterview rooms in the cabanas, but not preferred. Sometimes we are assigned cabanas prior to check-in and sometimes we have to ask to be moved at check-in, but we have always been able to get it as a request. I did stay once in the casitas when it was just DH and me.

have you had problems with your bus service as you stayed at the cabanas?

a page before, i read that bus stop #4 and #1 is a bad choice...

We haven't, but we also haven't stayed at CSR at Christmas or Easter. We have stayed there in the summer a few times, and the only time I stood on a CSR bus was leaving MK following Wishes (my kids had seats, though). I've never known the buses to skip stop #1, but I read that someone posted that happened to them.
