I am getting ready to book our Nov trip & was planning on staying at POR again this time. Well. . . I started reading some things about CSR & am curious. I read the reviews on All Ears & most were good. However, there were several that talked about the cleanliness of the room. I really don't want to stay somewhere that has mold & food from previous guests in it. :sad2: But it really looks like a beautiful resort.

For those of you who have been there, tell me what you think

I see a lot about it being very large - is it larger & more difficult to get around than POR?

Also - I see that they are going to start refurbishing in Oct. Has anyone stayed at a resort while they are refurbishing? If so, was it an incovenience at all?

We have stayed at CSR twice in the past year. We had no issues with cleanliness. Both rooms were clean and well maintained. The resort is large, but we didn't find it a problem. They run the busses in such a manner that you can use them to go to the food court/restaurant if you wish. However, the resort is lovely, and we enjoyed the walk. Both times our room was close to the bus stop (we have been in the ranchos and casitas). My daughter and I have reservations for CSR in May. I think you'll enjoy your stay. It has become my favorite moderate

I need to copy and paste my response to questions re the CSR...my fingers are getting tired. :rotfl:

My DH and I will be staying for the 7th time in September at CSR for our 25th anniversary. He offered me Polynesian when we first made our reservations and last week asked if I wanted Animal Kingdom. Both are pricey and we have kids in college, and I just love the CSR and am very happy there.

Yes, it is a large resort and very spread out. However, as the pp mentioned, you can catch a bus from one spot to another, or take the internal golf cart that goes around. We always stay in the Casitas section (normally 4 or 5). It takes me an average of five minutes to walk to the main building where the restaurants, check-in, gift shop, etc. are located. It takes me an average of seven minutes to walk to the Dig Site. Now, with my DH in tow it takes longer, but I have longer legs and walk faster. :rotfl2:

We love the Casitas (especially 4 and 5) because they are close to the quiet pool and the spa which I take advantage of every trip. I am not familiar with the buses and where the closest building is to one because we rent a car and don't worry about the buses.

My DH and I love the serenity of the CSR and love taking walks at night when the lights are on...it really is lovely. Last year we had a water view of the lake with a hammock right outside of our door.

The Dig Site is terrific with the slide (our kids loved it when they were younger) and the playground, arcade and volleyball court. My DH loves the hot tub.

We love the Pepper Market. It can be confusing to a newcomer, but once you get the hang of it, it is quite simple. Yes, it is a little pricier than the other food courts, but the food is better and there are definitely more options. We ate at the food court at the Caribbean and did not enjoy it at all. To avoid the 10% they add on to your bill, you just ask for a "to go" ticket and take it to your room or one of the tables outside (of which they have added more than there used to be).

Someone will eventually come on and say that it is a convention hotel and it does not feel Disney like with "suits" walking around. The only time we really see the convention people is in the morning when they are walking to their meetings. We have never had any issues with drunk convention people, loud or obnoxious or anything else. Whenever we are there, they are in meetings. They may be at the outdoor bar at night, but we never hear them.

We have never tried any of the other moderates because, simply, we are just very happy with the CSR and feel comfortable there. We have always had great service, friendly CM's, great mousekeeping (and we got towel animals last year and we don't even have little kids) and they brought balloons, wine glasses (etched with Mickey), wine and a box of chocolates to my room for my 50th birthday last year.

I am happy to ask any specific questions you might have if you wish to PM me. Also, be sure to check out Buzz's website on the CSR...it is very informative.
I'm sure any moderate you will be happy with. It just depends on your preference for theme, etc. That is why there are so many different resorts to choose from...everyone's taste is different.

CSR was awesome!!!! We also stayed at POR the same trip... I did not find much difference in the size. I liked POR too, but CSR a bit better. CSR seems to have a few more ameneties to me... food at the pool bar, better playground, fountain in the kids pool, lots of bars. POR has good stuff too, like sahring pool with POFQ and the boat to DTD.

I always like to try somewhere new, so I would vote to try CSR!

I have been 5 times and have never had any issues with cleanliness.

We just returned last night from CSR -- our room was well-maintained and clean. The resort is HUGE! We were lucky and had the first cabanas building near El Centro -- it was also a short walk across the bridge to the Dig Site pool. We loved it -- the theming was so different from Riverside/POFQ where we normally stay.

If you like it from the pictures, I would give it a try. :thumbsup2

In my experience, a lot of the review on allears seem to be of the complaining variety -- I had read the ones about CSR before leaving and was worried too -- there were no worries once we were there though!

Welcome back. So glad you enjoyed your stay at our fav resort.

I sent the following to Disney via Q & A on their website, no response!

Having just returned from Coronado Springs, 2/26-3/3/08, my sister, cousin & I were disappointed w/housekeeping. Our trip encountered a few problems as far as our stay at this resort. We requested extra pillows, twice, & was told that someone would go to the warehouse to collect them. We were given 1 extra pillow on our 3rd request.(3 of us in one room-would like 2 pillows) We also requested extra towels, since we were 3 adults, no problem, however we didn't receive any washcloths w/the towels? Again, another phone call to housekeeping. Some of this was just comfort concern. What really unnerved us was that our room was never fully cleaned. The first evening on our return we noticed that the housekeepers didn't take the tip we had left. It was in a specially marked & decorated envelope on top of the coffee maker, did they clean it? The response to our call was that they probably didn't see it-again-cleaned coffee pot? In addition our trash wasn't emptied & the plastic bag to the ice bucket wasn't either-for a few days. Needless to say we were tired of "tattling" on the house keepers. On our departure, I expressed concern again to the cast member checking us out, she responded that next time to let housekeeping know about all of this, I said we did & she really didn't have another response. We were told to explain to house keeping what we wanted & needed the next time we came. This is not acceptable. Disney is supposed to be consumer friendly & we were really disappointed at the results. If our room is not comfortable & clean for us, why would we want to stay in Disney? The stay was definitely not magical.
:(

CSR has always been very good to us. We just call and usually get extra coffee, pillows and towels and they come within minutes of our call. No complaints from us regarding CSR mousekeeping! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

We have had one or two minor issues at the CSR in our first couple of years there. I wrote to the Manager of the hotel and to the Disney Corporation itself and always received a response...twice I received a phone call. We have never had any issues with Mousekeeping...always clean rooms, towel animals, extra towels (to the point that we would never use them all if we took three showers a day) and extra shampoos, etc.

Thank you, KatMark! I will do as you did! I love Disney World/Disneyland & after more than 14 visits, had never encounter this w/any stay, had even been to CSR w/DH & DS many years ago. I know things happen, but I really wasn't happy w/the responses we receive.

:)

Thank you for your response on CSR. I am going May9th-14th and was getting a bit worried about the conventioners being there. Of course I read allears reviews and there were a few people who seemed to have bad experiences with the convention crowd. I have not stayed here before so I was a bit worried but you did ease my mind, so thank you.
It sounds like a great resort so I am looking forward to the trip.

We leave Tuesday for our first stay at CSR, so I'm hopeful that I will have wonderful things about CSR to report!!:yay:

All those going for the first time, enjoy!! We've never had any issues at CSR with conventions and/or housekeeping. The CM's are great as is the transportation, pool and food!! Try the margaritas by the pool!

Ooh yes and the Electric Lemonade too...

We just returned from our first stay at CSR and had no troubles with housekeeping or anything else for that matter. My DD's loved the pool and transportation was fantastic, better than we experienced at deluxe resorts. We would definitely return to CSR. I'm actually going through major withdrawals right now!! :sad1:

Hi. Can I ask where you read about refurbishment starting in October? I couldn't find info about this anywhere. We were planning on CSR in January....and just want to know what to expect.

Thanks!

We LOVE CSR!!! the rooms were always clean but the corridors always had leaves and spiderwebs on them....I can't complain about that because they are OUTDOOR corridors and you can't control that kind of thing, but I wonder if that is what those other people meant by cleanliness?? I can't wait to stay here again!!! :thumbsup2

For one year beginning in October, the CSR will undergo room rehabs. They will start at one end of the resort and work around until they are through the whole resort. My understanding is that they work from around 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. so it should not interfere with guests too much.
