coronado springs, not w/o ecv

Do not go here unless you have a ecv, everything and i mean everything is far from everything else !! Firste night I was put in Casitias 5 told to wiat for the interneal transport to the lobby, wiated 45 minutes, in the rain and it never never came, everywhere is a hike to the Dig Site, and very bummed here, either my family pushes me around or I don't go ecch !!!!!! I am very sad, Pop Century would have actually been better belive it or not, I am going to whine to them big time, they moved me , but now all that I am close to is the parking lot, so we drive everywhere, if you have no car and no ecv, choose another !!!!

I can see how CSR wouldn't work out well for you and I'm sorry you had a bad trip. But I just got back from a solo trip to CSR and personally I love it there. Yes it's far to go to the dig site, on the other hand I loved the quiet pool in the Casistas section. Everything is spread out and the internal shuttles won't hold a wheelchair, but it's all level and to me it's still very easy to push my own wheelchair around the resort. I've been known to come back from a day at the parks and take a walk around the lake to relax so to me it's not the effort involved in getting places it's the time.

Unfortunatly it's like eveything else in the world. What works for some doesn't work for others. I love the bump down steps at pools, others need the zero entry which I hate. It's all a matter of needs, wants and taste.

I agree with you, Bill. CSR is where my husband and I always stay and we have never had issues with it. I enjoy the walks, no matter how far. But like you said, what is good for one is not good for another.

Sorry you didn't enjoy CSR. We love it though! Sorry, but this wheelchair user disagrees. I personally wouldn't talk anyone out of staying at CSR.

I am actually posting this from my room at CSR. I am here for a convention that is being held here and at Epcot. I am in Building 3. I had planned to use my ECV only for Epcot. Today I had to go over for a meeting in the Convention Center and decided on my way there that I will use my ECV daily here.

I was going to try and upgrade to the CSR, we will have a ECV, three of us with lumbar and cervical herniations and me with fybromyalgia too.
So I wonder where are the accessable rooms, not needing a roll in shower, we need hand rails. At the ASSp we had connecting King access, and two doubles.

Are the beds the same at CSR or better, should I plan on a mattress topper for trigger points sensitivity.

I heard of asking for building 9B or 8A to be by the dig and pool, it would not be by the main building though as 9B would.
Sorry to be a bother, but I want a good trip for a buch of us that barely make a whole....

We are going to be staying there Next month when we go. There are 3 in our party who use power chairs, and I will be having a ECV, rented from off site.
You mentional "internal transports". Are they different from the busses which take us to the parks? It will be no beg deal having to "walk" or ride where we are going. I have never been there, so am not familiar with the layout of the place.
From what I hear now, I will just make sure my ECV is delivered to the front lobby, and not my hotel room.

What internal transports are you guys talking about? I stayed at Coronado Springs a few years back and don't recall any internal shuttles.

The internal shuttle system = golf carts. My friend and I used it once while at CSR last month, and saw them shuttling people both days we were there. There's a pic on Buzz2001's site under Courtesy Coach.

A new option is to use the internal shuttle service or courtesy coach. The courtesy coach service is provided with golf carts and is available to all guests. No more walking to the ranchos (or anywhere) if you don't want to, just wait anywhere along the path and flag down a ride. As long as there is room on the cart, they will pick you up. The courtesy coach operates from 7:00am to 11:00pm!

This too is my least favorite resort.
Good Luck trying to get a ride on the golf cart!!!!!!!
I tried many times to flag one down, they just fly by..
This was before I had my ECV (I was too vain to admit I couldn't do the walking anymore and hobbled along in sever pain)
We have stayed there 2 times, But Never again...

I explained my needs on check in and how long I could walk and was assured there would be the interneal transports, the golf carts, so we were placed the first night in #5 building close to the lake, that's where I sat the first night waiting in the rain, then we were placed in the #2 building close to the parking lot, again , not close to any pool , so we used the car, no problem, but I could have definately had the Coronado staff be a little more user friendly like all those employees who drove by in their golf carts and waved at me and told me someone would be by and no-one was by, I was very sad

Sorry, but I disagree. Next month will be my 5th stay at CSR and it has always been wheelchair friendly. To each his own.

How's this for a compromise.

CSR is not a good place for those with endurance problems.

Not all wheelchair users have problems covering long distances.

Personally I had no problems with the CSR staff. On check in they assigned me a room in the Cabana areas but I explained why I wanted a room in the Casitas and they got me a perfect room in building 3 (Thanks Mehdi ) I've stayed at CSR twice so far and it's my favorite moderate resort.

Bill, isn't kinda sad that not a lot of people think wheelchair users can be quite strong? We both have been in chairs a long time and I have no doubt we could probably beat the crap out of someone. You agree?

HEHE, lets just say I'm not some frail old guy. We use our upper bodies as our legs. Every day we push our chairs for miles and miles, we lift our bodies with our arms in and out of cars, beds, tubs, etc... Telling me I can't do something that I know I can just makes me more stubborn.

NadineNurse, I can so feel your pain. I was put in the farthest possible room in building one, which is a long long ways. At that time I wasn't smart enough to realize I could ask for a different room, but without question it was the worst trip I ever had out of 30+ and the resort was the reason. Movies, Music, Pop are ALL preferable. It's beautiful but not worth the price it extracted from my body.

That's why when I see people on the family board asking about a stroller for their able bodied child over the age of 4 I tell myself there are your ECV users of the future not because of need but because its available.

My youngest pushed herself all through WDW by the time she was 3. When I tell people that with the 7 year old kids getting a stroller they always say well she is sitting. Hello, she can't stand so she uses her arms to get herself out of bed in the morning and then for everything else she does for the day including getting herself back in bed.
