Wife and I are staying at Coronado and the first couple days are going to be during Marathon weekend. We got a message saying that due to the marathon we could have problems with transportation. Wondering if any of you have had this experience In the past? I believe Saturday we’re doing AK and MK that Sunday.

Saturday is the 1/2 Marathon day, and that course does not go near AK, so you should be fine that day. Sunday is the Full Marathon day, the runners are usually cleared out of MK by opening, but the roads all over property can be busy because of various road closures. Depending on if you are trying to get to MK first thing or later in the morning, you should still be ok, but don't be surprised if it takes a little bit longer to get around the roads.

New course is supposed to go by Coronado Springs this year. We don't have a copy of it yet so we don't know much beyond vague details. But the VP of RunDisney said we would be going by Coronado Springs. So be prepared for it to take a bit to get out of the hotel. Your going to need extra time to get anywhere normally but especially depending on how much we impact people staying at Coronado Springs.

Now that we know the marathon weekend routes, how impacted will CS be? We’re in the same boat as the OP, doing AK Saturday and MK Sunday. Looking, Saturday seems fine for AK, but Sunday the route goes right past CS. If we have a 10am FP at MK, how early are we going to have to leave CS? That’s checkout day, and we had planned to sleep in a bit. Are we going to be out of luck?

The RunDisney site has a map up with road closures in the digital event guide. There will be road access to CS, but I would anticipate delays from traffic being re-routed trying to get anywhere around property Sunday morning. If it were me I would say plan for at least 30 minutes to an hour extra getting around, but that is pure speculation on my part.

If you are staying at Coronado Springs on Sunday, you could be trapped there for hours with runners going both directions from Western Way. First towards Blizzard Beach and then from Blizzard Beach.
