Hi, I was going to book CS as I liked the look of the rooms however the Virgin Rep on the phone advised us not to as they had a lot of bad reports about it, so we booked POFQ instead. Has anyone had or heard of any negative experiences of this resort?

Only slightly negative thing I've heard is the fact that it has a large conference centre attached to it, so you tend to get conference guests staying there.

Ive stayed here and again, the only negative thing is the conferance center aspect, personally I didnt notice it that much as the place is so big!!!!!!!!, yeah theres a few people walking around in suits and ties but thats the only way you would know(the bar is abit busier in the evening, but then i wasnt using it!!).
The rooms are clean, well themed and the shop is one of the best Ive found in the onsite hotels. Im surprised the Virgin rep was negative about this hotel, perhaps she was on comission to get you in POFQ?????????.
I know friends who stayed here, and down graded to All stars becuase POFQ was that dull dingy, and staff not very accomodating!!, and they reckon all stars was wayyyy better.
In terms of CS and AKL, I really couldnt see much difference(and one was a deluxe) thats how good i feel about CS, I certainly would go back again.

Why dont you check the tripadvisor site - usually lots of reviews by people who have actually stayed at the hotels. Just remeber its best to read them all so that you get an overall impression as there are always some extreme views (good and bad).

Do a search on UK Trip Reports under GirlsonTour and see how much we enjoyed CSR.....so much that we are going back next year :thumbsup2

We've just got back from our third trip to CS, we love it. It is a beautiful resort, we always find the cm's friendly and helpful. The rooms have always been nice and the mousekeeping staff very friendly and efficent.

The convention center keeps the buses quiet (people in meetings).

We have never found the resort too big. The shuttle drivers are very friendly and we found we were always asked if we want a lift rather than walk.(most of the time we wanted to walk)

We have just booked for next year staying at CS.

We ate at the Maya Grill in CS last trip and it was fantastic. Good service, nice, quiet, intimate atmosphere and superb food.

Have you switched to POFQ from the Polynesian, or is POFQ in addition? :)

we switched so we could still do Disneyland hotel Castle Club next year and take my sister to wdw with us.

Yes you will find bad reviews for CSR but there are just as many, if not more, great ones. Have a look on the CSR thread on the resorts board, it looks stunning and there are some fabbie reviews. I'm heading there in 7 weeks and I can't wait, it looks beautiful

I have read lots of positive reviews on the resort thread, which is why I was wondering why the virgin rep said they had received bad reviews about it.

I wanted to book it as I lthought that it looked nice on he planning DVD and the lighter colours make the room look bigger than PO rooms.

I think the feeling I always get from reading those was that the resort was just too big for them, and that the Pepper Market isn't for everybody as you have to pay service charge for what is esentially counter service, and it can take a while. The way around it is to eat outside so you don't pay the charge or maybe pick items that are ready to go. I will only find out the truth when I go myself and until then I still think it looks great. ;) Don't let one rep sway you,
