Cornell Professor Loses His Mind

I was a little bored watching that and I think I may have yawned..;)

I teach at the university level and I have to say I don't blame him. I've never done what he did, but I have made students leave the class if they do something that is disrupting to me or the other students. I usually tell them they are welcome to come back when they are mature enough to handle a college level class.

The professor was absolutely right!:thumbsup2 How dare he expect to be shown respect in the classroom!

TC:cool1:

I am on the side of the professor. A person in college should be able to contain themselves. There was no need for the noise during the yawn. I am sure that his spot at Cornell, could easily be replaced by someone else. I bet a lot of people would just love to have gotten accepted.

It was rude and disrespectful and I think the professor handled it appropriately.

Wow. It's a sad day when a professor is considered "losing his mind" for simply reprimanding a rude student. I guess snowflakes can't handle being told that their rude behavior is, well, rude. Lovely.

A man after my own heart :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2!!! IMO, if more professors, teachers, parents, would hold students/children accountable and responsible for their actions, the youth wouldn't have nearly as many of the problems they have today.

YES!!!

Thank goodness this professor isn't afraid to parent his students! This is what happens when the snowflakes grow up.

Completely unacceptable behavior from the student and completely acceptable behavior from the professor.

I was expecting something that was actually outrageous... That was nothing! My high school and college professors were waaaay worse!:scared1:

I think it was completely wonderful that he called out the rude behavior. It is sad that the student's parents or someone else didn't call it out sooner!

I can't believe anyone would think that the professor lost his mind based on his reaction. I guess I should be glad that there aren't cameras in my classroom then  I would say something if one of my 4th graders did something obnoxious like that. These are college students. One does not need to make sounds to yawn. I don't care how boring the lecture was.

I am completely surprised that the other students did not say something before it went to the professor. My money is paying for those classes and I have no intention of sitting idly by listening to some attention seeker distract me or my fellow students. That professor rocked it and I can not imagine how in the world anyone would not support him. It WAS impolite and beyond immature.

While the student was extremely rude, I think the instructor lost his composure, had a hissy fit and acted like an arrogant jerk.............IMO of course.

So which is worse? Is being extremely rude better than acting like an arrogant jerk?

I don't get why he would be considered arrogant. It is his classroom in a top university that many people would give their eyeteeth to attend. A classroom is not a democracy, nor should it be. Those kids are there to learn, that is their job, and if they can't give the professor (or the boss) the respect he deserves, they shouldn't bother showing up. If one of my employees yawned out loud in the middle of a meeting, they would be asked to leave. Why does a professor deserve anything less than full respect?

I had a biology professor at UK that would end up on youtube, if he were still alive. He was rude, crude, and obscene. His class was kind of difficult for a 100 level class, but I really learned a lot.

I can't write down the things he said on here or I'd get banned. He was very sexual and chauvinistic.

Wow, if you people think that is screaming, come to my house sometime when I am trying to get the attention of my 3 kids. He's got nothin on me. lol

I had a history teacher who monitered the people who brought sandwiches for lunch. If you didn't behave he would take his false eye out put it on your lunch box and say I have got my eye on you.

I couldn't agree more.
I live about 1/2 hour away from Cornell and I can tell you if I was the other students I would have ratted the yawner out! If I was paying there huge tution costs it would have made me livid. I have middle class blue collar roots, so I went to the community college extension 2 miles down the road!:lmao: But many Cornell students fill pre-regs and etc at the college I attended.

:thumbsup2 That's exactly what I thought!! Honestly, I thought this professor acted fine. Now some of the others on YouTube were a bit wild.

He sounded like a typical NYer to me. Mad as heck and not gonna take it anymore.

I've had teachers who were WAAAY worse but back then there were no phone cameras or anything. This guy was cool as cucumber compared to some of my drama teachers... :scared:
