DS17 called from school last Friday because he was having terrible eye pain and light sensitivity and couldn't drive himself home. I took him right into the eye Dr. and he said it was a corneal infection. DS does wear contacts (soft) and has for about 6 years and no, he has never used the Renu with moisturelock.
They started him on heavy duty eye drops and saw him again yesterday. They now added in a steroid drop to reduce inflammation and want to see him again this week. He is not wearing his contacts at all during treatment.

Has anyone else had this happen? He seems to be responding well to the treatment, but I've read that this can be very serious so I'm a bit nervous. The Dr. hasn't indicated any cause for alarm at this point and he is responding well, but I'd like some reassurance. Thanks!

My cubicle mate had this. She had to go to the eye doctor almost every day for a week, then once a week for awhile. She could not wear her contacts for three months. The infection started to create a small hole in her cornea. She doesn't know how she got it but admits to not being "fanatical" about cleaning.
