I was able to get Corn Flakes really cheap and was hoping to make some type of dessert or treat using them. :thumbsup2

Has anyone made Rice Krispie treats and substituted Corn Flakes for the rice cereal?

Any yummy recipes out there?

My dad used to make something like rice krispie treats with cornflakes but instead of marshmallow if had butterscotch chips I think. I wish I knew it because it was sooo good! Anyone know what I'm talking about?

We used them for breading chicken but that was about it. Not big Corn Flake fans in our house. :) to use them for breading just crush them, dip your chicken and coat in the flakes, then you can either oven bake or pan fry, they are both good.

Wow! Thanks for the quick responses.:yay:

Thanks for the link! I checked it out, they do sound yummy. I think we might try them this weekend. :goodvibes

My stomach is growling now, I want them so bad! I'm going to have to make them with the itonight I think.

Just a suggestion but if they would stay good until christmas time(if you dont celebrate/mean no offense) you could save a box and make Corn Flake Wreaths... Pretty much the same recipe as rice krispie treat only you add green food dye to marshmellow before you add Corn Flakes and the you butter your hands and make them into wreath. You can either leave them like that or add red hots to them to look like festive balls.:goodvibes

PS I have a pic w/o the red hots if you like to see.

I think any cereal that is leftover from my desserts, I'll crush for breading.:thumbsup2

I think these might be what I'm thinking of. It's been so long I don't remember if there was peanut butter or not! :p

These sound good, too! I'll just need to buy some butterscotch chips.

I've got 48oz of Corn Flakes, so we can make all kinds of treats.

Very cute! Thanks for posting the recipe, too! :)

1/2 c sugar
1/2 c kayro syrup

Bring to boil for 2 minutes - stirring the whole time

remove from heat and add

1 c peanut butter
2 c corn flakes

Drop by spoonful on a plate and allow to cool (yeah right we never let them set up fully as they are yummy when warm and gooey)

My mother used to make coconut macaroons using Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk and cornflakes! :) Well, she did switch to bran flakes later, but the original recipe called for corn flakes! *LOL*

I'll see if I can find the recipe in the next few days (just moved and still am trying to put things together properly).

Here's what I can remember:

1 can Eagle Branch sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated milk)
1/2 cup peanut butter (can be smooth or crunchy, as you choose)
Shredded coconut--can't remember exactly. I think it's about 2 cups.
Chopped nuts. I think the original recipe called for walnuts, but she preferred pecans. It was either 1/2 of 1 cup.
Corn flakes. I think the original recipe calls for 2 or 3 cups, but I just added them until the batter/dough was too stiff to mix by hand! :)

Combine sweetened condensed milk and peanut butter. Add coconut. Add nuts. Add corn flakes until batter/dough is very stiff. It will be sticky!

Roll into balls. Original recipe said about walnut size--we found a food scoop that was slightly larger and had to adjust the baking time. I remember the had to be baked at 375F degrees, but not the amount of time. Around 15 to 20 minutes, I think, depending on size of cookies.

This is one of those recipes you can tweak to suit yourself and your family.

As I said, I'll try to find the original recipe and post it.

I swear these are the best cookies ever. I leave out the pecans. I crush the cornflakes in a food processor. My recipe is actually double this.
Can’t Stop Cookies
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 sticks butter, softened (I used salted because that’s what I had)
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 cup chopped, toasted pecans
2 cups cornflakes cereal
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a small bowl, stir or sift together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt.
In a mixing bowl, cream butter, sugar and vanilla. Using a spoon, stir flour mixture into butter mixture and stir until well mixed. Stir in pecans and cornflakes.
Using a teaspoon, scoop up dough and shape into balls of about 1/2 to 3/4 inch. Place on cookie sheets, 12 per sheet, spacing a few inches apart. Bake for 13-16 minutes. Let cool on cookie sheet for about 4 minutes (they’ll be delicate at first!) then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Makes about 34 cookies
Note: This cookie has no eggs and is easy to halve if you only want a small batch.

make the cornflake wreaths using orange food coloring, and then add a small piece of black licorice for halloween treats

My daughter makes what she calls "carp bait" and it is three cups of corn flakes and she mixes in peanut butter and butterscotch chips . Melt the chips and stir in about 2 cups of peanut butter and then start adding corn flakes then she drops by spoonfuls and cools on parchment paper they will be irregular shapes and are suppose to.:cool1:
