Corn Dogs have changed

My sister and I went to Disneyland last night for her Birthday. She wanted a corn dog at the stand on Main street. The wait was about 30 minutes since we had at least 25 people in front of us. I can tell you they are no longer the best corn dog I have ever had. They have changed the meat from all beef to beef/chicken. Also, the dog was no longer huge! It was your average corn dog. Three of us had it and none of us were impressed. I miss the old Corn Dog. :worship:

I had never had the "old" corn dog, but when I was there a few weeks ago, I got on from the red wagon on Main Street as well and it was SO greasy. It felt like a gut bomb for about 2 hours after I ate it. Not impressed. :)

i know, i use to love their corn dogs. the new ones are small and very greasy now, i guess i'll have to stick with the chimichanga's from now on.

After all the raves, I'd heard about them, my family got them before our very rainy Holiday Tour on Saturday. I agree, they were normal sized and quite, quite greasy. They tasted okay, but not great. The best I could really say about them is that they were warm on a cold afternoon and filled us (and the kids) up until we finished up the tour and could eat a late dinner.

I had one on our last trip and it was so greasy I couldn't finish it. They also seemed to be cooked much longer than in the past, it was very dark brown. All the ones we saw were like that.

I think it's the new trans fat free oil that they use.
Here in Calgary, there is a chicken place that sells corn fritters. They used to be so good, but a few years ago the city went trans fat free, and they had to change the oil by law. Well, they now are really heavy and seem to soak in the oil. The oil also has a slight bitter after taste. We noticed the same taste when we had the corndogs at DL last month. Very sad, we loved the old corndogs, but not these. Guess we will dream about the steak nachos at Whitewater Snacks instead!

I too am really bummed about this.....the corn dogs were my FAVORITE indulgence at Disneyland. I used to say that these dogs were the very best EVER...doesn't sound like this is true anymore. :sad2:

I had one last Monday and it was fantastic. The only problem was the price :scared1:

Does anyone know when the corn dogs changed? We had never had them before and tried them for the first time, oh, maybe 8 months ago (not sure exactly when) because everyone was raving about them. We thought they were good but didn't see what was so special about them. They were bigger than regular corn dogs but like a PP mentioned they seemed kind of dark and they didn't make us say "wow". I was just wondering if we had the new corn dogs or the original ones.

On a similar note, I had also heard everyone raving about how good the fruit at DL is but when I checked it out during this past year, it seems to be the same brand that you buy at the grocery store so it doesn't seem to be anything that special.

You live in So Cal. ALL the fruit here is good! The people who rave about it either:

1) come from parts of the country that do NOT have good fruit/produce
2) believe that everything in Disneyland tastes better. ;)

I had those nachos, was a little irked they were $10. Then they brought them out, WOWEE! Totally worth it :)

I think they've cut back on a lot of the food portions. I'm sure that at Ranco del Zocalo, they used to give you 4 enchiladas on the plate along with rice and beans. When we were there 2 weeks ago, we only got 3. My neice and I always got a plate and split it.

My Dh and I had the corn dogs in DCA in between the dinosaur sunglass hut and the Route 66 souvenirs. It is currently being renovated and the dinosaur hut was been taken down. BUT if when they are done they still have the same dogs they had when we were there last year.... they were :worship: AWESOME and HUGE!!!! :thumbsup2
I think we may even have pics somewhere too! I will take a look!

Another big change.....the skewers in Adventureland. Those have always been my favorite with the large chunks of tasty white chicken. Now, they are signigicantly smaller and made with thigh meat. The corn dogs are different, the skewers, now what else?

They moved that operation, temporarily, over to the Farmer's Market area.

There are packaged fruit things at DLR now...like grapes in cups and such. Those are boring. But the apples, and when they had grapes that weren't officially packaged (in a baggie), and the strawberries (as long as it's not December)...incredible! The bananas are "meh", though.

The pineapple is 99.9% of the time, the best I ever, because it always seems to be perfectly ripe and juicy.
