So I am going to buy a couple bottles of wine at the WL gift shop, however, I was wondering if anyone has flown with a corkscrew?? We don't check luggage, it's one small carry on for a long weekend, and I checked the TSA website and a corkscrew is not listed as prohibited. Anyone have an experience with this??

We've flown with a corkscrew before so in this case it looks like the TSA website is actually correct. pirate:

Great, thanks so much for the info. I love nothing more than a glass of wine on the balcony before heading out to dinner.

Oh yeah, you had a waiters corkscrew, which are the best kind, they have a small knife attached to cut the foil around the cork. I'll pack a different type of corkscrew. Worst cast scenario, I'm sure concierge will be able to help.

My corkscrew was taken and it didn't have the cutter on it  I actually hadn't realized it was in the bag, so I hadn't checked to see if it was listed as a prohibited item so I didn't put up a fight.

To save the hassle I think I'll skip it and just ask to use one at the resort. Thanks again everyone.

Just ask at the register when you buy the bottle. At POFQ, AKL, and OKW the CM opened it on the spot, we replaced the cork and walked back to our room.:cool1:

I have taken a corkscrew in carry-on baggage many times. You just have to make sure that the corkscrew does not have a knife on it. I always take it out of my bag and put in the bin so TSA can check for a knife to prevent my bag from being searched.

My corkscrew traveled over 100,000 miles last year. Occasionally I have had it inspected, but after verifiying that it didn't have a blade they handed it back and said "have a nice flight."

I would take a cheap one with me and if they take it, they take it.

Take it out of your bag and put it in an open bin at the security screening area.

Oh, that looks nice! Where did you find it?

You can find one like that at any decent/good wine shoppe. Or, do a search on the net. It is called a Boomerang Corkscrew and they usually run about $7-10.00. Try Winestuff.com or Amazon.

I have bought them as gifts for several of my travel friends. I would check your local wine shop or liquor store. Go to the big warehouse type liquor/wine stores as they tend to have a large selection of bar accessories.

Thanks for the name of the item! Unfortunately, in PA, we don't have choice as far as liquor and wine stores. They are all run by the state.
