How is this for lunch? How is the food? What about the service?

We ate here for lunch back in September. We both really enjoyed it. :goodvibes The food and service were both excellent. Appetizer was the Cod Cake, and for entrees, DH had the Mahi Mahi, and I had the Lobster Salad. Dessert, I believe, was the Chocolate Wave. :thumbsup2

Frankly, I'm a little sad and surprised to see all the bad reviews. I hope that our experience was the norm, and we weren't just lucky.

We had lunch there 2 weeks ago and enjoyed it. I prefer the earliest lunch there over later lunches or dinners because the place does get incredibly noisy. So we go with an 11:30 lunch and always enjoy it. Also, this place has a tendency to get behind on their ADR's so going early avoids having to wait long past the ADR time to get seated (which has been our experience every time we've had dinner there).

We were 4 adults. We split a couple of appetizers and then 2 of us had the blackened catfish, one had tilapia and one had Ceasar salad. All 4 of us liked our lunch. Was it the best food of the trip? No. But it was better than other places and it's one of our fav places to have lunch while at Epcot.

Because the place was not crowded, still filling, we had excellent service. It was quiet and relaxing. The server took many pics of us on our cameras and she seemed unhurried and attentive. She answered many questions on the menu and even added her suggestions/opinions regarding size portions, etc.

We really enjoy the Coral Reef, both for lunch and dinner. We found the service top notch and our servers have been very accomodating when we have asked to change something on the menue- unlike our former favorite Le Cellier.
We don't eat much seafood and always find something really yummy at CR.
Plus the view is wonderful!!

Last trip we were celebrating our Anniversary, we were given special menus made for us and free desert..

Thank you for your responses. It's good to hear posivite reviews. Plan on taking your advice about the early ADR's.

I've been to Coral Reef several times, and it's always been one of my favorites. I think lunch is better than dinner because it's somewhat quieter (well, less loud), more relaxed. I've had the steak, Mahi-Mahi, fellow diners have had catfish, all recommended. However, last time I had the pumpkin risotto for a change, because I love pumpkin. That wasn't so great-not hot, not very flavorful to me.

We will be celebrating our anniversary for our December trip--never been to CR. How do you get special menus made? Thanks!:goodvibes

Thanks again for all of your responses. Am planning on doing an early dinner. How early do they start serving dinner?

I know I ate dinner there at around 4:45. I think the earliest was 4:30.

We did lunch there last year and it was the best meal we had all trip. I loved the lobster salad. Even though it will be oop for an app on the DDP this year the land & sea app is absolutely amazing.
