We have ADR's for this September and I am wondering if there is a certain time that divers or mickey are in the tank. Also, if we have an early seating for dinner can we request at the restaurant for a table near the tank or will they not take requests? Any info about this restaurant would be helpful. Thanks!!!

i would love to know the answer to that also as Coral Reef is one of the places that we keep waivering about.

We had lunch at 12:30 on a Saturday and there were divers in the water.

It was cool watching them swim and all the fish following them :thumbsup2

I'm not sure which times divers or Mickey can be seen in the tank.

When you check in, request a table near the front of the tank. They will try their best to accomodate you; sometimes they will, sometimes they won't...it's just the luck of the draw. However, in my experience there are NO bad seats in this restaurant because it is tiered seating and I even prefer sitting in the 2nd tier, because it gives you a better view of the tank..Also, when we sat near the tank in September 2006 we had problems with people (adults and children alike) getting VERY close to us (practically breathing down our necks) to get pictures and its very distracting.

Wherever your seated, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful meal! I love the food and can't wait to go back in September!!

there are always divers periodically. if you want to see divers though, your best bet is to time your ADR around the DiveQUEST tour where guests are able to scuba in the tanks and often come by the viewing window in the restaurant. not sure of the times though, i think there are 2 tours a day and i want to say a good time would be about 5:30, but not positive.

if you have an ADR at coral reef, pending availability, you can also arrange for a diver in advance with a message free of charge during your ADR.

as far as mickey goes, he's more of a fluke, so to speak. there's no rhyme or reason when he shows up, only that when he feels like diving, he can. one of the perks i guess. i actually spoke to one of the managers of the restaurant today and asked and she said she never knows and she'd love to. she said sometimes they know they day of, but often they don't know until it happens.

but he's relatively rare. the only numbers i've heard is maybe 2 or 3 times so far this year.

That is so cool that Mickey sometimes dives. I didn't know that! We are trying Coral Reef for the first time in September. I have a ressie for 6:20 p.m., but maybe I'll move it closer to 5:30. The kids would love to see the divers. Either way, I think the huge aquariums will be a hit. We have "The Aquarium" restaurant near us, which will probably be like McDonald's compared to the Coral Reef aquarium though! Thanks for the info, can't wait!

the only time I knew Mickey was in the Tank is usually when they are filming promo's and such.

We had a 5pm ADR and the divers got in the water about 5:30-5:45 we requested a table near the tank and got the 2nd row which was the best since you didn't have people walking right up to you and looking at the tank yet you were close enough to see everything. Also I believe the larest party that sit next to the tank is 4 adults and maybe a highchair on the end of the table. but evrything changes so they might have more spots now. :wizard:

Sounds great! We have 5:00 adrs for July 2nd!
Does anyone know how much notice they need for a diver to hold up a sign?

I would call as soon as possible to get a sign, because I think they only have so many slots available. I called about 3 months in advance I think and didn't have a problem. Also, they will do personalized menus for you, also free of charge. When you call just ask them about it, and they will give you their e-mail address for you to send them the pictures. The direct CR number is 407-560-6856. I talked to Debbi, who was Fabulous, and I've heard Meredith is really great too.

Anyone know if there are any vegetarian options on the menu here?

I think the family will love this place, just wanted to see if there would be something suitable for the vegetarian in the family (me;) ) if we make dinner ressies.

TIA :cutie:

According to the menus over at allearsnet.com, there is a veggie option, it is:

Vegetable Strudel - filled with lentils, shiitake mushrooms, caramelized onions, julienne zucchini and summer squash, served over a leek fondue topped with goat cheese $15.99

HTH!
