Is this any good? Dh want to go just for the view, he doesn't like seafood :confused3 .

I was wondering if anyone could tell me about it, I haven't seen anyone mention it.

Had lunch there a couple of years ago. The food was fine, not remarkable, but we most enjoyed the break of the low lighting and being right next to the aqaurium on a hot day. The kids really mellowed out watching the fish and everyone else relaxed too.

I wouldn't bother if DH doesn't like seafood. We've had excellent meals at CR, but we enjoy seafood, fish, etc. CR is a bit pricey to just enjoy the ambience, though they do have some other fare outside of the seafood. You can view the menu at: http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_cr.htm

I believe many people wind up disliking a restaurant at WDW because they want to enjoy the experience more than the food. If you go to CR hoping to be entertained more than fed, I think you're setting yourself up for an expensive experiment that might not work. On the other hand, if your DH can find something on the menu he likes (along with you, of course :earsboy: ), then go for it! I'd suggest making an ADR for early in the evening, then showing up early for the ADR and asking to be seated next to the tank. You will have to wait a short while, but a table right next to the glass is loads of fun. Good luck. :paw:

I've never eaten there, but am taking my mom there for lunch in Dec. The CM gave me a 12:00 noon ADR, saying that's when they open, so I plan to make sure we are the first ones there at opening to get a seat next to the tank. I've read both good and bad reviews about it, but like you want to go for the ambience. The lobster bisque gets good reviews, as do the desserts, so I plan to order the bisque, a salad, and a dessert. They also have a lunch special that runs around $20.00. Lunch supposed to be cheaper than dinner.

One thing that my wife and I found amusing was part of the review of this restaurant in the latest edition of the Unofficial Guide . In it they state(I'm paraphrasing) that this is a great restaurant if you want a nice quiet romantic place? Although we still enjoy it this restaurant has consistently been the loudest & noisiest place we've ever been too. Somehow sound just echoes in there and it is usually always full of kids!

But we like it.

I would type in Coral Reef under the search bar for resturants, there are quite a few reviews on this forum. We, personally, felt Coral Reef was our biggest disappointment. Good luck!

I am eating at Coral Reef on the last day of my trip and I was wondering if lunch is much different than dinner. We had to make a lunch reservation because dinner would set us back to far to make our flight.

Will we still get the same experience. I am really looking forward to going there and I love seafood, but I really want a nice dinner.

I am also planning on using my DP with this. Is that possible for the lunch hour? I don't want to save up two days and then not be able to use it.

WE ate there for lunch on our last trip and we loved it!! Lunch is indeed lighter than dinner and it is a bit cheaper too! As for the DP I do believe it is on there as a signature. I do highly recommend you leave room for the Chocolate Wave for desert.....mmmmmmm!! It is our favorite dessert @ WDW

Hope you enjoy and have a great trip :sunny:

oooh. Chocolate Wave sounds fantastic. Thank you for the great recomendation. I will be ordering that for sure.

in a word: YUCK!

We had a horrible experience at Coral Reef...bad food, server with an attitude, ridiculous prices.

Coming from Maine, we are used to very good seafood...Coral Reef wasn't it. The quality did not align with the price. The view is lovely. If we went back I would just go for a drink and dessert. princess: pirate: :earboy2:

Can anyone tell me anything more about the chocolate wave?
Thank you
Suzy V

If you are interested in a great selection for CR, check out my post in the thread "coral reef affected by... (ls referb)." I highly recommend the beef skewer tenderloins, cooked medium rare, with mashed potatoes instead of celery root mash. They are an appetizer, so I ordered a double portion which is 4 skewers. I also highly recommend avoiding the caesar salad. ;)

You have to get it!!! A very sweetly sinful experience. Our waiter showed us the "perfect bite" which was a combo of the hot & cold segments of the dish. It was so funny, he fed it DW2B. WE loved it so much he sent us the recipe in the mail....we haven't attempted it yet. We may have to just stop in there to get a piece in a few days now mmmmmmmmmmmm :earboy2:
Let us know if you have any specific questions we'll try to help :)

We really enjoyed it, my non-seafood loving son did not. He likes fried clams or fish sticks, but that's it in the seafood dept. They didn't have either, so he ordered steak tips. They were not very good.

We ate the lobster bisque and the lunch special with grilled fish (don't know what) over mashed potatoes. It was just okay, the bisque was fantastic.
