Please help me choose :) We currently have a res @ Coral Reef for 8 (kids & adults). I just saw that San Angel has a slot open for the same time.

What would you pick?? I've heard mixed reviews on both......I realize it's completely different types of food but we will be OK with either.

Thanks!

I personally prefer the atmosphere of San Angel over Coral Reef. I also like Mexican food better than seafood. We have eaten once at Coral Reef (party of 6) and were far away from the tank, had good food and service but a loud obnoxious group from a conference surrounding us which tainted our experience (CMs did try to help). We've eaten at San Angel several times with 2-6 people and had enjoyable meals and service. When we went with a group of 14 it was a bit rough; we were squished and service just not as enjoyable as other times bc they were so busy. I still think I would pick San Angel or throw it out to a vote from my group. Either way, go in with an open mind looking for fun :goodvibes You can't really lose either way imo

If you are on the DP, I would choose CR. I know its expensive OOP, but it is nice to try at least once. It is nice and relaxing to watch the fish in the tanks while eating. The food is good as well- we always get the steak and chocolate wave for desert....YUM! Our DD8 has requested this meal for our Sept trip. That being said, DH has requested we try San Angel for the first time this trip. I'm a bit scared because of the many mediocre reviews I've read, but the athmosphere looks pretty nice.

Coral Reef books at the 180 day mark. You can usually get a same day or even walk in reservation at San Angel. There is a reason for that.
We love Coral Reef and pay OOP trips we are not on dining plan. San Angel to us is not worth it even on free dining.

We walked up to San Angel for lunch last trip...the atmosphere is amazing, but the food was not very good, and the service wasn't either. The worst part was the crowded feeling.....i felt like i was smashed in with two or three other parties!

We love Coral Reef, the tank is amazing, and the food was very good! We were on the DDP, and the server informed us of some frozen drinks we could get as part of the plan, which i thought was thoughtful of him! Very good service, our daughter (3) loved the fish.....great experience!!

PS-we both had the steak....we enjoyed it! seems like it gets better reviews than the seafood??

Have a great trip!!!

We don't care for San Angel at all . . . La Hacienda was much, much better for us. That said, this trip we're really thinking of trying Coral Reef. So between your two choices, I'd go CR.

DH and I really like both, but having kids in the group we would choose CR. I think there are more choices too b/c you can pick surf or turf, where SAI is strictly Mexican food (albeit yummy Mexican food)!

I, personally, would skip both. At one time both were on my "Must Do" list, but both have since fallen far off that list for various reasons. However, if I HAD to choose one, I would be more willing to give SA another chance before giving CR another chance.
