I just started planning a last minute Birthday/Thanksgiving trip for DD5. She's turning six on Thanksgiving day and I want her to have a really special meal. Both Coral Reef and the princess meal in Norway are available. I'd love to hear from anyone who has dined at these places for Thanksgiving in the past to help me decide. I think she would love both restaurants!

Has anyone done the princess dinner in Norway for Thanksgiving? I'd really love to hear about it!

I would do Coral Reef. The kids are given a 'worksheet' to find all the fish in the tank.
The marine atmosphere is cool. Ask for a booth on the first level next to the tanks. Wonderful seats to view the tanks.

Mention the birthday - specail things can happne to a special menu, diver visit with your childs name and birthday greeting in the tank, and birthday wishes 'written in chocolate on the dessert. Call the CR directly to get more information about the extra's.

We love CR.
It has food for those who love to eat fish and also for those who do not eat fish.

Me the non-fish eater loves the Grilled NY Strip Steak - served with potatoes au gratin, and broccolini

The fish eaters like:
Seafood Linguini with sauteed shrimp, mahi mahi, salmon, mussels, andouille sausage and slow-roasted tomatoes
and
Grilled Mahi Mahi served with cashew-jasmine rice topped with a spicy pineapple chutney finished with a malibu rum beurre blanc

Our under 9 orders:
Celery and Carrot Sticks, Grilled Chicken Breast and Fruit Cup

Best desserts:
The Chocolate Wave - with brandied cherries
and
Tropical Fruit with Mango Sorbet - finished with a sea horse tuiles

From what I have read, I would do the Princess Storybook. I have read good things about it. Lots of princess interaction. I am sure you can't go wrong with either

We were there on Aug. 20th for my daughter's 4th birthday. I had prearranged the diver and the menu (THANKS TO DEBBI) and they sat us close to the tank. The food was delicious for dinner and both of my girls (4 & 8) loved their mahi-mahi from the kids meal. They were so happy to NOT have nuggets or mac & cheese. The tank was very entertaining to both girls-they loved watching the fish and turtles. We also received the chocolate "banners" on our dessert- another great touch.

We too love CR. However, we opted to try LeCellier this year for something new. It was bothering me though that I had not booked Akerhaus as we have never done it, my baby will be almost 9 next time we visit, and she LOVES Ariel. So, I booked it too. Just hubby and I and the little 2 girls, oldest would rather eat around the world with Gma and Gpa. We are doing it for dinner, LeCellier for lunch. Whil I think CR is great and have never been to Akerhaus, I would just point out that CR will be there next time, but will the "Princess Stage" still be there for your DD. That is what led me to Akerhaus, one more magical princess encounter before she gets too big on me. They grow up so darn fast....
Either way will be fun just in different ways, either way... enjoy!!!

I haven't done Akershus for T-giving, but I have had lunch there. It is very charming. The interior is like inside a castle. Lots of interaction with the princesses. The food is very different, just like all of the World Showcase restaurants; but we all enjoyed it very much.

My dd was mesmerized, and my twin boys didn't mind it that much. :)

I have not eaten at CR, so I can't do a comparison. But we are going back to Akershus on our next trip in Nov.

HTH!

Thank you, everyone for your responses.:goodvibes I decided to go with Coral Reef, hopefully getting the diver and personilized menu. I spoke with Debbi about it and now I'm just waiting for her to get back to me. I hope I made the right choice!

I am sure either will be great. WE haven't done either one and I have them both booked on different days. Can't wait to try them both.

We just returned from celebrating DD 6th birthday...and ate at both Norway and the Coral Reef.....and out of the two of them, she loved Norway better. She loved having the princesses wishing her HB. She was beaming the rest of the day. The CR was nice too and she loved seeing the diver, but she did not seem as excited as she was that she had just met the princesses.

Oh Dear! Just when I made up my mind! I think I'll try to get the princess meal on another day. Hopefully that will work!
