We are back to World for the 1st time in 6 yrs and are delighted to have FREE DDP. We have never tried Coral Reef and have read mixed reviews. This is our last night and I would like it to be special. I am celebrating my 4th "cancerversery" (4yr breast cancer survivor). Was this a good choice or not? BTW, we will spend the day at Epcot for the 1st day of Food and Wine Festival.

:thumbsup2

First of all Congratulations on your anniversary!!!!!
2nd of all we were scared too when we booked CR in March. This was our first time there too and was very nervous with all the bad reviews. We did it and we loved it. I also have 3 kids and they enjoyed it too. The atmosphere is great and there really isn't a bad seat in the place. They all face the fish tank. The food was very good and the dessert was amazing. The kids meals were decent and I felt they were worth it. Would I go if not on the DDP? Likely not, the bill came to over $200.00 for 5 of us, but usually we wouldn't order each a appetizer and a dessert. So if you figure that out it likely wouldn't have cost us that much. Good luck and have fun in Disney!!

I say go for it we liked it enough to be going a second time. The first time we paid about $100 for DH and DD(8 at the time) and myself. Congratulations on your Cancerversary!

We really liked Corral Reef - it was one of our favorites. Although I found the interior a little dark but the food was great.

Yes this is an excellant choice! The Coral Reef was our favorite meal of the trip. We will be returning there 2 times on our next trip in 2008. Don't miss the Chocolate Wave Cake!! It's by far the best thing I have ever eaten in my life. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water! lol

CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU!!!:thumbsup2

Weve never been to Coral Reef either but when I was booking our ADR's I had the BEST CM and she raved about Coral Reef....she said it was the best STEAK she ever had!!! Which is cool because Im not a seafood person, but DH is. I think my princess: will enjoy the atmosphere ALOT!

Go for it!

ETA So we booked it ... Ill give a review when we get back!

We were a little leary of trying Coral Reef and at the last minute decided to cancel. We called dining and no other decent TS times were availible that day. So, we decided to suffer through it. Wow, this ties for the best meal of the trip (Crystlal Palace breakfast is a strong contender) Coral Reef even edges out Le Cellier. The food was amazing, the atmosphere great (aquarium is visible from almost any table), and the service was top notch. The bill for the three of us -2 adults and a child would have been nearly $130 if paying oop.

I know that there are a lot of negative reviews out there. That being said, DH and I are still making ADR's for our Xmas trip. Everyone is different so I want to experience it for myself. I keep thinking if the Coral Reef is so bad why is it still open? It apparently stays busy if people can't even come up and walk in without an ADR (during most times of the year).

Good luck to you and let us know what you decide!

Missie

We ate at the Coral Reef last year as part of the Candlelight Processional package and loved it. We have ADR to go back with my sister and her family for 9/2 during the free DDP. The food was great, the aquarium is amazing and you will definitely get your monies worth with the food. Plus, it is not the normal Disney restaurant fare.

Joanne :)

We LOVED our meal at Coral Reef too. It was one of the best meals of our trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats!!:woohoo:
We ate @ coral reef last week for DD's Birthday Celebration!! LOVE, LOVED ! it. I had the blackened catfish(I like seafood-not DH) with Lobster soup(ate to the bottom of the bowl............lol..if we would have been at home..I would have licked the bowl.........lol), Dh had the steak and said it was good and cooked perfectly(still not as good as LeCellier). Dh also loved Creme Brulee(now, his fav desert).

WE EVEN HAD SPECIAL APPEARANCE BY SUBBA MICKEY!!!  WAY COOL!!!! We arranged scubba dude with Birthday sign for DD....she loved it!:cloud9:

HAPPY EATING!!!

Congrats
Go and enjoy yourself most reviews are based on peoples opinions and we all have different viewpoints. After all you have been through yours will be brighter than most. Plus the tank adds a lovely atmosphere.

We had a wonderful time at Coral Reef and will definitely return on our next trip. Food was great! Service was great! We asked if we could have a table close to the tank and we were seating right up at the tank with a high sea turtle parked near us the whole night. Kids loved everything about it. Chocolate wave was so wonderful.

I was a little worried because of the poor reviews here but was so glad we went! The only things I could say that weren't great was we had to wait a little for our ADR (maybe seated 10 minutes after our time, not bad though) and being at the tank was great but the downside is lots of people come up to take picture while you are eating. But I wouldn't really think of either of those as bad things, they are just the closest I can give since we had a wonderful time.

Congratulations on your "Cancerversary"!!!:) That's awesome.

I think you should definitely do Coral Reef! We had so much fun there in October. Good food (the lobster soup is TOTALLY to die for!), good service, good atmosphere. We had a blast and will definitely go there again on our next trip.

Have fun!!!

Do it! We love Coral Reef. We like the food and the atmosphere is awesome. Last trip we had a turtle (huge) just hang out and stare at us like he was eyeing up our food. We loved it! DH made me make another ressie for September.

I say go for it! I've heard great responces about it and I think it is great!

Five years ago we had a really bad experence there and had not been back till this January. Ds really wanted to go and we got a walk-in, which made me even more nervious. WE LOVED IT. it was the best meal we had all week, and maybe in all our trips to WDW. Food was too good. My steak was the best I have had at WDW, and service was awsome. We will return next trip as well. Bill was 200.00 for three and covered 100% on the DDP.
