Ok so i have ADR next week at Coral Reef & Le Cellier, but i need help making choice on which to cancel.

After looking at the menu (me being the picky eater of the family ) will probably only eat the steak at the seafood place... Soooo Do you think it's worth cancelling Le Cellier over? As a side note.. we are eating at Cape May the day prior, so i'm not sure how that fare is compared to Coral Reefs.

We have eaten at Le Cellier each trip, we love it but i was thinking the aquarium next to us would be awesome and dd would looove it. Is the aquarium worth it?

Thanks!

My DH and I ate at Coral Reef for our honeymoon in November and loved it. Neither one of us really eats seafood, and though my normal reaction is to get steak at places like that, we both tried something else. I got the apricot braised beef short rib (link) and he got the seared chicken breast (link) Both meals were absolutely amazing!!!

I love love love Coral Reef, mostly just for the atmosphere, but after our last meal there, I highly recommend trying it, if you haven't yet!

(Side note: We had an awesome encounter with a diver in the aquarium the day we were there. It's not guaranteed they will be in there when you dine, but your DD will probably love seeing them! I think she would love finding all of the various fish in there too)

I personally enjoy Coral Reef over Le'Cellier. I'm sure I'm going to be in the minority, but I think that Le'Cellier is one of the most overhyped attractions in WDW. Don't get me wrong, the food is good, but it is far, far, far from great as so many say. Take away the 1TS on the DDP (it is a great value on it) and this place would be half as busy as it is now.

For me I hated waiting almost one hour (End of Jan) to be seated, then placed next to the bathroom entrance and serving stations and being told that was the only seat or we could go somewhere else (not made up, the words from the manager). Also, the place is small, packed, and loud.

I think it's going to take some time for me to fight like crazy to try and get another adr for this place; it's just not worth it in my opinion. Coral Reef's food is excellent (IMHO) and I love the atmosphere. It is a must on my list everytime we go back home to Disney.

I would keep them and cancel Cape May.

Now that you mention it, I agree. While I was disappointed in Le'Celleir I didn't think the food was bad, it just didn't live up to the hype. But I did not like Cape May at all. I'm with you, keep Le'Cellier and Coral Reef and dump Cape May. :thumbsup2

I've never been to either - but Coral Reef is on our next trip's plans.... here's why.

Le Cellier gets a lot of hype by we have steakhouses all over the place at home - there doesn't seem to be anything special about Le Cellier. Coral Reef has some interesting fish tanks to look at. The biggest thrill? I don't know. But a good number of reviews praise the steak at Coral Reef.

For our meals in the parks, DS4 did not want to stop all the fun at parks to sit down for a boring meal (and I don't blame him) so for lunch, we try to pick the fun places (like Coral Reef). By dinner he has had a good fill of the parks already and was less likely to fuss about it.

I try to pick places to eat that are different from home -- character meals, meals with entertainment/music, etc... Exceptions are some signature restaurants because the food at California Grill and Citrocos and Jiko was really that good!

We really enjoy both restaurants. I am a little bit more partial towards Le Cellier because I love their Filet Mignon with Mushroom Risotto :cloud9:, plus the chocolate mouse and Cheddar Cheese Soup with the Pretzel Bread is just Heaven. We haven't been to Coral Reef in a couple of years, only because we wanted to try other restaurants in the WS before going back. The scenery is awesome with the huge fish tank as the back drop, which always keeps the kids occupied as you wait for your food, the food is always good, and the Chocolate wave dessert is amazing. I actually made ADRs for Coral Reef when we come back in September (it's been since 2007 since we last dined there) and we are actually really excited about it. So to answer the OPs question, if you have always done Le Cellier, I would try out Coral Reef, you won't be disappointed :goodvibes

I have to say that I like Le Cellier but I have not be able to dine at Coral Reef. I will say as a former CM that booked dinning reservation, note that you might not be able to get a good view of the aquarium. It is a first come and first serve. You can request it at the potium but you might have to wait past your ADR time be get the view that you would like. It might be an hour of more.

I have never been to Coral Reef, and might like to try it at some point, but if I had a Le Cellier ADR, there is no way I would cancel it.

We love Le Cellier, more importantly my daughters love it.;) We have always had fabulous service there. We like the fact that is low key.

My husband gets a little antsy about the seating at Coral Reef, bad experience last time. The restaurant itself is nice. But the children usually are enchanted
by everything there is to see.

We have done the buffet at Cape May, and we really loved that. The kids like it too, I think they enjoy it because they can eat at their own pace. I love the shrimp on the buffet, and the veggie availability. :cutie:

We usually stay at the YC, and it was nice in the rain to be able to walk to Cape May between the buildings. Normally we do a time out in the Summer months, and hit the pool. Then everyone chills out before we hit the parks. So that was a plus too. By the way reservations at Le Cellier are some of the hardest to get, that should tell you something. I would not let them go, we have never had a bad steak there.

Coral Reef is my favorite WDW restaurant - love the atmosphere with the aquarium view & we've always had excellent meals there. We've been to Le Cellier and it was good, but we didn't think it was anything special.

I'd keep Coral Reef. I too am NOT a seafood lover. But I love this place. The steak is excellent however the chicken was one of my favorite meals of the trip. Also my DH had a lobster ravioli that I really enjoyed as well. It wasn't overly "fishy". I actually keep taking bits of it. It's wonderful. If you've tried LeCellier why not try something new?

We have done both resturants during each trip for years and LOVE them both. That would be a hard choice to make. I am the steak eater in our family and my dh loves fish! :)

Ok my 2 cents.... We have been to Coral Reef twice. I chose there for my birthday in 2007. The following year we returned and I wanted to try all new restaurants.. however, my friends were joining us for their 1st ever Disney trip and they heard me rave about the Coral Reef and wanted to go there. So Coral Reef is the only restaurant that we have visited twice.. it doesn't disappoint.. the steak is wonderful!!! And the Decor is great.

This year we are trying Le Cellier for the first time...

My advice would be to try out Coral Reef... you did say you had been to Le Cellier before? Try something new!

We did both in 2008. We both thought Le Cellier was very good and are hoping to go back in Nov. Coral Reef was ok, but is not on our list for this year. Even my DH, who usually doesn't have an opinion, said he wasn't impressed and never needs to go back...that's huge for him!

LeCellier, hands down! The food is better and so is the atmosphere! It is just cozy and fun- a great place to sit and relax for a meal! DH (who is NOT a Disney fan) loved that meal!! If he liked it, it must be awesome! :rotfl2: (Now, I haven't been to Coral Reef since 2002, but I wasn't impressed!)

WOW! This has gone completely different than what I assumed it would be. This makes me really excited for our first trip to Coral Reef in May.
