I actually have a dinner ressie for Coral Reef but thinking of changing it to Kona Cafe. DH is a BIG eater (Ohana is his Favorite restaurant at wdw) and I have read that Coral Reef has small portions.
If theres anyone out there who has been to both, please give me your opinions! thanks :teeth:

Kona is the best restaurant at WDW (IMO). The portions aren't huge at Kona, but my DH and DS are big eaters and they both said that Kona was their favorite also. On the DDP with an appetizer, entree, and dessert- everyone will be stuffed. Enjoy!

Another vote for Kona! :thumbsup2 My DW and I have had both lunch and dinner at Kona and really enjoy both the food and atmosphere. We have never dined at Coral Reef because we have read few good reviews and we can get great seafood at home. :)

Our BEST meal in the 9nts. was at Kona!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

been 2 both-kona by far. depends on what you want to eat though. if it's fish, the flying fish at the board walk is the way to go $. at disney, forget about the price. just keep telling yourself that you don't do it every day and you'll figure out how to pay for it later.

Just returned yesterday, and Kona and Coral Reef were our 2 best meals. If I were you, I'd do whichever restaurant is most convenient. If you are going to be at Epcot anyway, I'd do CR, but if not, Kona is hard to beat.

Kona, Kona, Kona!! We were lucky enough to get Andy as our server 4 times on our recent trip, everything was FANTASTIC!!!

I have to agree with this completely. We had not been to either restaurant before this trip (just got back yesterday) and these two restaurants were the best of our 8 days. We liked the service much better at Coral Reef, but the food was better at Kona. Also, we were pleasantly satisfied after leaving CR (we were on the DDP and had apps, entrees, desserts), but were so stuffed after Kona that we could only finish half of our desserts. Kona is great for steaks (I got the beef teriyaki steak, my wife got the chargrilled filet). I had the ahi tuna at CR, which was perfect; and my wife got the shrimp pasta, which she really liked but which I thought was dry.

Kona Cafe! We always eat at Kona each and every trip as the food is fabulous and the atmosphere is great!

Much better than Coral Reef, then again, most restaurants are better than Coral Reef, but Kona really is a great restaurant!

Tiger :)

My DH and I ate at both the last week of September. We thoroughly enjoyed both with just a slight edge going to Kona Cafe.
