Coral Reef, is it worth it, food good?

We ate there this past Sept & really enjoyed it. The steak was very good and the atmosphere is nice with the aquarium. It is an expensive meal if you are paying OOP. Fortunately for us we got the free dining last Sept & will have it again this Sept, so it was a no-brainer for us to book Coral Reef again this year.

Both times I have eaten there everything was fabulous! The service and the food were awesome and I really like the atmosphere! Go!

Coral Reef was the single worst experience we've ever had at any restaurant we've ever been to.

The food is nothing special but the service, the last time we were there, was so bad that I simply refused to deal with our server by the end of the meal. I've never been treated so badly by a waitress before--ever. She was just plain mean. She may have been having a bad day, but there was no need to take it out on my family.

I did complain to the manager and requested a different server. I've NEVER complained about a server to management before the meal was finished. Usually, we just reflect poor service in our tip. If it's really bad I'll make note of the servers name and will write a complaint letter. This was truly awful, though and I couldn't take it another second. The manager finished up our table.

We'll never go back and I certainly do not encourage anyone to eat there. I'd feel bad subjecting them to the possibility of dealing with this server!

Hmmm, wonder if we had the same server? We have eaten here twice, the first time was "OK" but nothing to write home about. This past time, just last month, the food was "eh" and the service was horrendous! Two hours for a party of 8 to eat? And to top it off, she was rude, and when my BIL just casually mentioned to the manager, HE said she was complaining about us because we changed seats (once so my SIL could feed her baby!). It was terribly unprofessional.

Although, the 3 people in our group who ordered steak (which I found strange in a seafood restaurant!) proclaimed them fabulous!!!!! :confused3

We are trying it in August at the request of DH and the kids.

I've heard great things and not so great things, so I'm interested to see for myself.

I probably wouldn't spend the money on it if we didn't have the DDP, though.

We ate lunch there a couple of days ago and I have been there many times before that. Great atmosphere, fairly decent food (we both had the mahi which was good the apps were so-so) the service this time was great but we have had poor service. It is expensive though. i was on the DXDP so for me it was worth it for lunch had I paid OOP I would have thought it wasn't worth the food with all the other great places in WS...but really you are paying for atmosphere and kids would love it.

I've only eaten at Coral Reef once and it was a few years ago but what I DO remember is this : I was totally freaked out by eating fish and looking at fish at the same time and having such an UNfun experience with the menu (am a way picky eater) so I ordered some kind of chicken and it came on a bed of grits - I took a bite and apparently I looked horrified - the nicest cast member EVER must have noticed and he came over and whispered very quietly "how about I get you an order of french fries and chicken fingers instead" IT WAS LIKE HE JUST KNEW - what great service! :lmao:
