I'll admit that it's been a year since we've been there, but oh my! DH and I took my brother and SIL there last week, what a mistake! We ordered the mahi, which was about 2/3 the meal it used to be, and the chocolate wave, which was much smaller than when we had it last! But the real corker was my brother's meal. He's a big guy, and he ordered the $19 Diver's Lunch because it sounded like plenty of food. He got a small cup of lobster bisque, a small mound of potatoes with six medium size shrimp, and a small mound of cheesecake with mango sauce. The main course looked especially pitiful on the huge plates they use!

The mahi still tasted pretty good, but my brother didn't comment on his until later, when the portions became a joke for the rest of the trip! Just thought I would warn anyone planning to eat there, prepare for a light meal.

I hear ya- while the coral reef has a great atmosphere, I think the food and service are sub par. My mom and I ate there a couple of years back- we both ordered some sort of seafood pasta (which, much to our chagrin, had squash in it -ew) plus we had smoothies but no dessert, the bill was a staggering $70 for the two of us...for LUNCH! We both left hungry and ended up getting a cheeseburger if I recall. Won't make that mistake again (anyways, the dining plan lets you eat at plenty of other lovely table service spots for 1 meal redemption instead of the 2 the coral reef takes). Sorry you had a lousy experience! :sad2:

We would love to eat there just for the setting but for 2 Table Service redemptions and then the reviews I've seen lately there is no way we would do it. We are planning on either Narcoossees or California Grill instead. Both have outstanding reviews.

I've never been to Coral Reef, but I agree that the portions at WDW are smaller than they used to be. The plates are also very large, more like chargers.

However, I like the smaller portions. Most restaurants give out too much food which is totally unnecessary and wasteful.

Laurjean, I agree. I wasn't really unhappy with my meal, but I did feel bad for my brother. To pay $19 for lunch and still be hungry is not good. Well, he found plenty of snacks to cheer him up.
