How is the Coral Reef for lunch ?

The idea of being surrounded by 'fish tanks'is great
for my family. Is also seems to have a nice childrens menu.

Thanks :sunny:

The Coral Reef is a "must do" for lunch
every trip for us. You may hear about a
gazillion different opinions on the place,
but it really is a neat place for a meal.
The food is usually pretty good, but it can be
pricey, even for lunch.

You are not surrounded by fish tanks, there is
one huge tank visable throughout the restaurant,
and the tables are on multi-tiered levels.
The best seats are the ones right up next to
the tank, the best bet for that is to arrange
a priority seating early (11-11:30 ish) and politely request a table right up by the
tank (usually works for us).

Enjoy:D :D

Cheaper than doing dinner and just as good. We skip breakfast and then have the first PS of the day there (around 11:30). It doesn't matter where you sit, you still have a wonderful view of the tank! :)

Thanks for the information :sunny:

Our PS is for noon - Memorial Day weekend.
I hope to still be near the fish tank.

Thanks :)

i would see about trying to change the ps to 11:30 (or when they open if it's changed) and get there earlier than the ps. They have a limited number of tables right next to the fish tanks, which are awesome seats. You're nose to nose with the fish. I think it's about 8 tables (someone may be clearer). Ask for a table "next to the fish tank.) Once those are gone, there are 3 more tiers; they claim you can see the fish just fine. my kids say "no way!"

I can't stress enough the difference between being close to the tank (first two or three rows of tables) and being farther away. The last time we were at Coral Reef for lunch, we had a 12:00 noon PS (I think they opened at 11:30) and our timing was terrible. We weren't early enough to get a table close to the tank and we weren't late enough to get a table where a group had already finished eating close to the tank. We were seated so far away (not to mention behind some "wave" decorations) that those fish might as well have been in the Pacific ocean. On a few earlier visits, when we had a PS at opening, we were seated close to the tank and loved it. If you can't get a PS for close to the opening time (and make sure you show up early in any case) you might be better trying to eat at 1:00 or so, after some of the initial groups have moved on. Just MHO.

I tried to get an earlier lunch - no luck.
We have 12:10 PM.
The CM said Coral Reef opens at noon for lunch.
So we are only 10 mins from starting time.

We'll arrive by 11:50 and see if we can get
by a fish tank.

Maybe I'll add it's our anniversary (around the corner
from our PS).
Do you think that will help ?

This is IMHO, but if you can't get a table right up at the tank, it's not worth the money. We did have a table tank side and it was awsome to watch the fish as we ate. The food however was just OK and more expensive than any other lunch we did. You can always ask about waiting for a tankside table and if the wait is long one of you could take the kids back upstairs to explore a little more. You could also just say no thanks and leave if you are not happy with the table. Good luck!!
