First off, Characters aren't an issue for Akerhaus, that's not why we'd want to go. Elsa isn't there (From my understanding) and my kids aren't really into the rest of the Princesses like that. Lol If Elsa is there, it would be worth it for one of my kids in which case we'd do it hands down.

Which would you choose, for food? My kids are 9,8, and 2.5. I thought they'd love Coral Reef, but I've heard that you really don't get to sit next to the Aquarium and the food is sub-par (we'd go for the Aquarium experience).

We sat right next to the aquarium, and the food was good. It was just dh and I, and I ddn't really pay attention to see if there were tables that accommodated more than 2 along the aquarium.
I can't comment on the other two I've never been there.

Elsa is not at Akershus.

Biergarten is fun, but it depends on how you feel about German food.

Coral Reef might be the most interesting. You won't be right along the aquarium.

Biergarten would be my pick. I like their food the best and it is a fun atmosphere with the performances at night.

We ate at Coral Reef and Biergarten - I would say the food at coral reef was a little better. At coral reef we sat at the very back, I wouldn't say that it was a bad place, but i think somewhere in the middle would be best. I don't think you can really appreciate the tank and inhabitants if you are right next to the tank. Biergarten - I enjoyed the scenery and the show more than the food. I like german food but what was offered didn't thrill me. Garden Gill might be something to consider -- I thought it was neat to see the different scenery as the restaurant moved around, food was served family style and there we characters (mickey and chip & dale when we were there).

Biergarten has the best food, in my opinion. I have eaten at all three multiple times. I think the food is good at all three, but Biergarten has a great variety and I think is always prepared consistently. It's also something out of the ordinary. I really enjoyed the atmosphere there.

At Biergarten, you will likely share your table with other people. This may be a problem for some, but we really like that aspect!

Biergarten is always at the top of our list every trip. The food is always good, and the entertainment and ambiance is lots of fun. There are a ton of options too so everyone should be able to find something to enjoy.

Is the Entertainment offered during lunch? that's the reservation we'd go with.

We did Garden Grille last time so we want to try something different this time. Loved it though!

We've been to Germany, what about Biergarten didn't impress you much? I've seen their menu and kind of thought the same, but would go for the entertainment at least (if it's offered during lunch). I think they had Spaetzl on their menu, which the kids would be in love with and would be a total throwback for them. Lol That's all they ever asked for when we would go anywhere in Germany!

Yes, but it starts a tad late. Last several trips the first set was at 1:15 so we booked a 12:30 lunch so we could enjoy it at the end of our meal. I read a few posts where people mentioned it starting at 12:45 but that hasn't been my experience. It may change depending on time of year, but if you want to catch it, I wouldn't go with an early lunch.

I've been to all 3 of them and I'd put them in this order:

1. Biergarten---the food and atmosphere are both great. We especially like the choices on the dinner buffet. My personal favorites are the pretzel breads and salads. This place is on our family's top 10 list, maybe top 5.
2. Akershus---the cold bar is very good and so was the plated meal. My boys could've cared less about the princesses, but we enjoyed the experience and would probably go back.
3. Coral Reef---great atmosphere, not great food.

Coral Reef - We've ate there a couple times. Once has a table of 4 right in front of the aquarium, so there are more than 2 tops there. As cool as it is to be by the aquarium, you then have a limited view and I kind of felt like folks where staring at us the whole time lol. The food is decent there, but nothing crazy wonderful. Every time we've been there they've been way behind in seating as well.

Akershus - My kids love this place. And they are 2 boys that aren't necessarily there for the princesses. The food is good and the atmosphere is nice. Plus, the cold bar adds something to the meal that other places don't have.

Biergarten - We haven't tried this one. I've heard mixed reviews. But my biggest hesitation is the having to share a table with strangers - that could go well and could not. :)

Thumbs down on AKERSHUS.......The whole ambience & food was terrible....Not Tony's Terrible but pretty bad in our experience.

We've eaten at CR like 5 times & had very good meals & service on 4 of them. 1 other time was just ok....
The only time we've eaten @ Biergarten I thoroughly enjoyed it...I really love trying different meats n stuff, and they show was fun and festive as well. Also like that the way the seat you makes you kind of engage with neighbors that are seated next to you.. My DW doesn't really eat any meat, except chicken so she didn't enjoy that as much.

We really like Biergarten and Coral Reef. The food at Akershus is just okay if you aren't there for the characters.

We had dinner at Coral Reef last fall and the food was excellent. I had a seafood pasta dish that was so good I wanted to lick the bowl clean. DH had a steak that was well cooked. We did sit at a tank side table which was fun. We at there 4 or 5 years ago and had a top tier table, but it was still very nice.

Biergarten is lots of fun and there are really good things on the buffet. The mac and cheese and the pretzel rolls are worth the price of admission :-)

I think all 3 are good choices along with Garden Grill. If your children are younger, then Akershus might be the best option for this trip before they would totally not enjoy experience. Our girls like the show at Biergarten and we enjoy the food. Coral Reef has the aquarium which is great to see. I think all of the restaurants' experiences other than Akershus would be enjoyed with older children up to teens.

Coral Reef - We requested a a table next to the aquarium. We had to wait about an extra 10 to 15 minutes, but we got it. We enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere there very much. We were a party of two. The steak was very good.

We just got home from Disney World and we loved Coral Reef! We were able to sit right next to the aquarium (We requested to do so when we checked in. The food was great! I was torn between 2 different meals and our waiter told me if I didn't like the first meal, he would bring me the second meal. Service was excellent! Food was very good! Of all the places we ate, our 5 year old said this was his favorite!
