That was the one thing that made me want to stop in at the Canteen. Is the mug actually copper, or is it made from something else and just has copper appearance?

We have a local restaurant that will sell a Moscow Mule in a regular glass for face value
To Clarify, I think they concoct it in the copper mug and then pour it into a glass. I'm sure you don't get the full effect as actually drinking it out of the mug.1) A Moscow Mule in anything but a Copper Mug/Glass is not a Mule.
2) There is a definite taste difference.
3) The Ginger Beer DOES react with the copper.
. . . Many foods or drink react with different vessels.
. . . In fact some meal recipes actually mention to not mix the ingredients in "Reactive Bowls", like aluminum or stainless steel or copper.
4) Recipe for "a proper Mule"
. . . 4 oz Ginger Beer
. . . 1-1/2 oz Vodka
. . . 1/6 oz Lime Juice
. . . Combine vodka and ginger beer in a copper mug or highball glass filled with ice.
. . . Add lime juice.
. . . Stir gently and garnish with a lime slice.
.
NOTE:
They serve The Mule at my club in Akron, OH.
The bartender even refused to make it one Saturday when the mugs were not yet washed. (In a dishwasher instead of by hand at the bar.)
They would not put them in a glass, since there is no reaction.
Heading there today, I will ask if the mugs are available. My sister and I both want one also, they are so cool looking!
Any reviews on the food?
Went today and sadly the mugs are still on the "slow boat from China". No news as to when they will arrive.![]()
I was told we got the last two. We ordered two since there are only two drinks. When DS saw how nice the mug was we asked the server if they sold them without drink and he said they would not. So he tried to order a drink and the server said we got the last two. As we looked around the room (not crowded) we hardly saw any but folks had the specialty drinks in glasses. They really are nicer than I expected and one of the best values we've gotten for souvenir food/drink holders.
But seriously, the restaurant is all hyped up, you know even if you make some menu etc changes, it's not going anywhere - and they had to know this mug was going to be huge hit ........ and you don't order enough to get through more than a few days???
That is a bummer. Those are cool mugs, and I must really have one. I think this next trip in March might be the mug trip. We need more butter beer mugs from Universal. We plan to go to Trader Sam's and hope to hit Jock Lindsey's. We might try Skipper's too. They really need alcohol in those drinks though.
We went to Jocks and they were out of their mug too! Very frustrating. Whoever orders this stuff needs a performance appraisal.
