Hello!

Does anyone know if the new one-bedrooms at Copper Creek will allow a 5th person over the age of 3? I know it says it sleeps 4, but I was wondering if it will be like SS, BWV, etc. that allow a 5th person if they bring their own bedding?

These villas are small like the AKV Value villas. So the fifth person probably needs to be under the age of three.

You're right. I was surprised when I saw the square footage numbers. The studios at 361 square feet compare favorably to many DVC resorts as well.

I think the galley kitchen layout just makes it look smaller and narrower...I think I would need to see where the extra square footage was placed instead of a regular kitchen layout. Maybe the master bedroom and bathrooms are a little roomier?

Here's a VR walkthrough of the 1-bedroom that DVC has posted to DisneyCopperCreek.com: https://my.matterport.com/show/?m=VYTBs1uCFwM

I called member services and they said it is not showing that it will be able to be done right now. She said it could change in the future possibly. I am going to double check in the system on Wednesday when they allow non-owners to start booking there. I'll update after I try.

That would be great to hear Disney's take on this. My guess is that given the size of the villa, they will probably let the fifth guest stay but not provide bedding like other similar DVC villas.

Maybe they are going back to what the villas officially sleep, not what guests would like them to sleep.

I am convinced that number is not correct for the 1BR. Unless something has changed and DVC has shared numbers then as I understand it DVC News was quoting an estimate based on looking at the plans where being off by even a millimeter in measuring could mean a bit of square footage. The sales booklet provides no square footage of the rooms.

First, back when Disney used to publish room square footage the standard rooms at WL were stated to be 340 sq feet. They used 2 of those to make a 1BR = 680 square feet.

Second - I just toured the models and they are most certainly not larger than anything else other than a value 1BR at Jambo. No way, no how. On the tour I mentioned about a few things like the lack of an actual closet in the master and was told that the space was tight so they had to make due as best they could.

Third - we used to stay in the WL rooms and always in the south wing. Those rooms were smaller than virtually all DVC studios.

So the studios are more around the 340 sq feet range which is why they don't have the murphy bed - no room. When I was in it I hadn't been thinking that the square footing was likely the same as BLT but I immediately had the feeling of BLT with the exception that they did not do the galley kitchen at CCV so there is more living area and less devoted to the kitchen like the arrangement at BLT.

When we purchased CCV in early April, we asked for the square footage of the villas. The guide didn't have the figures and went to ask someone else. Nothing in writing was provided. These are the figures we were given:

Studio 338 Sq. Ft.
1BR 675 Sq. Ft.
2BR 1051 Sq. Ft.
GV 2237 Sq. Ft.
Cabin 1213 Sq. Ft.

None of the figures matched what we reported on the DVC News. Later we found out that the scale used on the 4th floor declaration and the 7 floor declarations were different. Apparently I used the wrong declaration, plus I didn't remove door space when figuring the figures for the DVC News. What I still don't understand is that WL has always said that a hotel room was 344 square feet. So the studio and 1BR lost some space somewhere and the 2BR gained square footage as they don't match 3 X 344 nor match the totals for a 1BR+studio. So I have doubts about the square footage figures the guide gave us too since the formula should be:

studio + 1BR = 2BR (1013 Sq. Feet) but instead DVC says it is 1051.
5 studios = GV (1690 Sq feet) but instead DVC says it is 2237.

Maybe DVC counts the balcony. If it was a house the closets would be included in the square footage but most realtors would not include the porches/balcony. DH (wdrl) & I just cannot figure it out all of the discrepancies.

My only question did they remove space from the studio and give it to the 1BR? That sounds like plumbing problems to me as the location of the plumbing is already in place.

I think we cannot not rely on the figures given us by the guide when we bought either. I wish DVC had bothered to add the square footages to their flier.

Thanks for that info Denlo! Most of that seems much more likely.

Regarding the GV's - those were not made up from the standard rooms but instead a combination of standard and corner Deluxe junior suites so perhaps that explains the difference? And in the 2BR's they possibly could condense the HVAC systems from 3 to 1 freeing and the same in a 1BR - from 2 to 1 so freeing up floor space? But not knowing exactly what they are and aren't including in the square footage it's such a guess. So who's bringing the first tape measure to a room?

It's called Disney Math. It's based on feelings, not real math.
