Does anyone out there know what the degree of difficulty is for snagging a one bedroom for a week in early December at CCV at 11 months? We’re new DVC owners and haven’t tried booking these dates yet!

I'd like to know this as well as I'm looking to purchase a CCV contract.

I understand that studios are pretty much gone at 8 EST at 11 months for early December, either walked or within minutes. However, we stay in 1 Bedrooms and 2 Bedrooms. Anyone with experience at CCV that could give us some insight.

Will we be able to book 1 BR and 2BR rooms if I book at 11 months out to the day, where I log on pretty much at 8 EST to do it? Or would I have to walk it or be refreshing to get them within the first few seconds?

My understanding is that 1BR/2BR are not dissimilar to how VGF works for early December. Because studios are such a beast, 1BRs also move faster than typical because people want a booking.

There are 56 dedicated 2BRs at CCV, and 20 dedicated 1BRs. The rest of the 1/2BRs are tangled up in lock offs with studios; there are 36 lock-off 2BRs (and 42 dedicated studios).

If you really want CCV in early December, buy a fixed week. You won't be sorry about anything but the cost.

I would STRONGLY advise purchasing a guaranteed week if you absolutely want to stay there at that time of year. ALL the room reservations at Copper Creek are a madhouse those weeks. Additionally, I foresee the point charts continuing an upward shift for that season for some time to come. Purchasing a guaranteed week would insulate you against that as well.

Unfortunately, that means a direct purchase at a high price; but, peace of mind for years to come may be worth it. It was for us. Good luck! Best wishes! Be safe!

If we can’t get in early December, it’s not the end of the world for us. We can go some other time in the fall or January, which is probably a little easier (especially January?)

The guaranteed week doesn’t work for us. Just not comfortable with paying a premium over an already huge price for direct points, under the assumption that we’ll want to vacation at the exact same time, year in, year out, for the next 30-40 years. I know, we can use the points other times too, but then we’d be way better off buying resale.

How is availability the week before Thanksgiving week? So like the weekend before thanksgiving and the week leading up to it? 1 BRs and 2 BRs can be got at 11 months then? Can studios as well?

In addition, is the Wilderness Lodge completely decorated for Christmas by the week before Thanksgiving? I know that Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Parties are already happening by then, but I'd like to stay at CCV for those with the WL having the Tree and Gingerbread House already up.

Studios are difficult in November as well. All of November, truth be told. The small number of studios and the many small contracts sold against cabin points are a factor all of fall, but especially November and December. There are risks of not getting studios at 11 months both months all month long.

Quite frankly, studios at CC are an issue almost the entire year at this point. I’m not saying you can’t find one, BUT you have to be very diligent about booking windows. There are too many small point contracts chasing too few point available rooms. It is strangely hit or miss all year long. We had the fewest issues with studios in the late spring and summer. 1BR are generally much easier to book, but even they can fill up if demand spikes for unavailable studios at popular times.

As long as you booked early, I think you’d be ok with that week for a 1BR. (To the other poster, I think January (especially later in the month) would be the same.) Fall and the holidays have become the top visitation time for DVC. Because of the favorable holiday vibe, favorable point charts, and it’s relative newness, CC is highly coveted. In the short term, this situation is more complex than ever due to COVID point impacts (maybe less 1BR demand due to borrowing restrictions/maybe more due to excessive banking?), the 50th anniversary celebrations and the reservation walking that clearly goes on for the weeks following Thanksgiving.

First week of Dec is the most popular week for DVC owners to book.

One bedrooms go really fast in December. You can get a one bedroom but you need to be ready 11 months at 8 am.

Studios? Forget it unless you walk it for months.

For first two weeks week of Dec 2019 and Dec 2020, the CCV 1BRs and dedicated 2BRs were still open at 8:30 a.m. eastern (a half hour past the 8 a.m. starting time) at 11 months out. Only the studios (and 2BR lock-offs) had an issue of disappearing right at 8 a.m. Whether that will continue in the future for 1BRs and dedicated 2BRs is an unknown (e.g., the 11-month studio issue at CCV is steadily getting worse, spreading more to even moderate demand times of the year).

Thank you very much! We will likely only ever stay in 1BR or 2BR so that's good to hear.

Do you know about the week before the week of Thanksgiving? I assume that 1BR and 2BR would be slightly easier then so they should be available. Is the Lobby Tree up by then along with the rest of the decorations?

Still brutal. CCV is brutal from Jersey Week to year end. Decor is up by Thanksgiving but not at a set date.

A couple of things that might impact availability. the lower December point levels now extent to the 23rd rather than just to the 15th.

New resorts almost always have higher demand, which tend to lower some as new owning members start to try other resorts. Of course cabin points overhang will continue to impact

I would not expect that walking or even booking right at 8am would be needed for 1brs, but to be sure, booking early as the window opens would be prudent.

Thank you! This is just the intel I was hoping to get when I posted this thread. Since I’m in LA, that means I have to get up at 5 AM at the 11 month mark, but it sounds like my odds for a one bedroom are better than booking fast passes earlier this year.
