Coordinating two room locations, one cash, one dvc rental

I think my plan is that I’ll try a broker for AKL in Oct but I need two rooms. I see some people book direct with Disney and then if a rental gets filled, cancel one or both. I assume no problem doing that under one name? But if I wind up with one rental and one cash, do I risk being in different buildings? Will Disney help coordinate the room locations so we’re not ridiculously far apart?

I think that depends on what you book.

AKL actually consists of two resorts, which are two separate buildings. Jambo House has both DVC and hotel rooms. Kidani Village is all DVC units.

So. If you're booking a hotel room in Animal Kingdom Lodge, you will be placed in Jambo House. If you're booking a studio, 1, 2, or 3 bedroom villa, you'll be asked to specify whether you want Jambo or Kidani.

As long as you book both rooms in Jambo, or both rooms in Kidani, they'll be in the same building.

Yes, actually targeting dvc studios in Jambo. If we were booking two cash rooms I’d simply ask that we be near each other since one room will house grandkids and our kids. I’ve hear AKL is huge so was wondering if two rooms within Jambo could be far apart such that the kids wouldn’t be able to wander over to our room on same floor like we usually do.

Once your reservations are all set, you could always call the hotel directly closer to check in and request that the rooms be on the same floor. And you can always go to the front desk and make that request as well if you discover that they are not on same floor at check in. If they have two rooms on the same floor on in same area, they will accommodate you.

You cannot call AKV or AKL directly. If a DVC unit is rented, all room requests must go via the owner of the points and Member Services. Other requests can be transmitted via the reservations line, or a service like Touring Plans.

All Animal Kingdom Villas at Jambo House are on 5th floor.

There are far more studios at Kidani than at Jambo so you are more likely to get two studios there than at Jambo. When you make your cash reservations are you planning on getting studios at Jambo (if any are available) or regular resort rooms? If studios you’ll all be on the 5th floor irrespective of whether you rent for cash from Disney or from a DVC owner via a broker. If you go for a regular room for cash from Disney you are very unlikely to be on the same floor as a DVC studio at Jambo - there are only a couple of regular rooms on the 5th floor and they are near the value DVC studios which are most likely already booked.
Have you considered renting a DVC 2 bedroom villa? Kidani has lovely dedicated 2 bedrooms w/ a king bed in the master, 2 queen beds in the spare bedroom, 3 bathrooms (one having a whirlpool tub,) and a nice kitchen and living room area. Kidani and Jambo’s lock off 2 br.s are a studio connected to a 1 br. villa - w/ a lock off 2 br. you are getting 2 villas guarenteed to be next to each other. It would cost a bit more to get a 2 br. via a broker than renting 2 studios would cost, but it also might cost less than renting 2 rooms cash from Disney depending on dates/seasons, etc..

Thx for the guidance. We are looking at two studios for privacy reasons. Great to know all are on 5th floor. There are cash rooms available. So having them all on one floor kind of solves the problem. Not sure we can land a rental anyway.
